Little x's eh, don't talk too loudly or everyone will want them!

Clicking them like totally deletes the Tab.

Thank you everyone for all the help and advice. The link worked bingo banjo...first time, too!

The only thing which perplexes me is even when I've clicked on the IE icon and brought up a new home page, clicking on any other saved links on the desktop opens them in Firefox.. However I've got IE back so can't complain.

    Thank you all again

Read what I posted way way back about making IE your default browser.

The reason is that you have Firefox set as your default browser.

If you want to set IE as default then....................in Internet Explorer

    1. Click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.
    2. Click the Programs tab, and then click Make default.
    3. Click OK, and then close Internet Explorer.
Internet Explorer is now the default web browser.

Xmarks - synchronise all your bookmarks across all your kit - PC, Laptop, Netbook & USB portable suite for me.

Xmarks is also available for IE, Safari, and Chrome (which is why it is no longer called Foxmarks).

No it doesn't...it just closes them luckily.
There's a really handy extension that uncloses recent tabs for FF. With that, and lazarus you don't get that horrible sinking feeling half way through a long form when you accidentally close the !!!!!! and lose it all

FF extensions are brilliant sometimes. Life savers.

is the icon back on the start menu, just thought it might not be there so you would have to do a short cut for it
  • Personally I will never go back to IE or OE from Firefox or Thunderbird.
...however... I've been moving all my data over from my old Win2K computer to my brand new Windows 7 machine. I just can't seem to find a way of moving my saved emails from Thunderbird on my old machine to Thunderbird on my new one.
    Can anyone suggest a way?

Absolutely right...I did what I thought I wanted to do and didn't read the rest of the 'instructions' - and I thought it was only men who did that :o

Thank you again kwikbreaks and penrhyn
