The more I think about this the dodgier it seems

She hasnt started working for them yet.
they dont have an office in the UK ( yes, why are they not using thier solicitor or accountants office)
the company isnt registered at companies house if they havent got a base in the UK- is that right

Is this company really a smokescreen for something else? I would be investigating this thoroughly, not just from the premises point of view. Your home could end up on watchdog or worse.

Do some research, and if you could let us know the name of the co- then we can ensure that others ( if indeed it is a scam) are not burned by the same tactics.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

It's not one of these "International Finance Manager" jobs is it? These are the ones where you only need an email address and a bank account to "accept transfers from our local clients" (ie proceeds of ebay scams and/or money-laundering).

Yes, you can use your home adr as the registered office of a limited company. I do.

Strictly speaking, you should ask for planning permission to do this. You should also inform your insurers. You also have to display a sign prominently on your house that says it's the registered office of blah blah Ltd. You also have to keep a copy of the share register and company articles on the premises and any member of the public can request to inspect them. You should also get public liability insurance.

Companies house has a lot of info on this type of thing ( http://www.companieshouse.gov.uk/ ).

Something to be aware of is that the registered office is a matter of public record, so you could get customers turning up at your house.

A better option may be to buy a postal adr for use as the registered office or indeed even a PO Box.

It cost me £150 to set up a company, including an address for registration at Companies House and only £25 per annum thereafter.

There are any number of companies who will arrange a shell company for next to nothing.

I would be very concerned if someone was using my address. Are these guys Eastern European per chance? Be very very careful

perhaps suggest that you will be moving locally quite soon and it wouldn't be practical for them to use an address for such a short time - then see what job is on offer for you - if any. i totally agree with all the other posters here = beware !!

Avoid this like the plague. It sounds similar to the spam emails that want you to become an "employee" and process payments. It sounds like a money laundering scam to me.
