Can't see MSE Martin in Parliamentary Committee

I am using the latest firefox 3.5.5 but I can't get Martin's link to work. What is the minimum requirement to view this material ?

Link works fine for me on firefox 3.5.5 - have you tried clearing cache?

If you are talking about watching the video itself, you need to Windows Media Player I think - that usually installs a firefox plugin itself.

I can't see the video with the default embedded media player (MS silver light). Accepting the offer to switch to WMP makes it play OK.

    (I'm also on Firefox 3.5.5.)

edit: Just seen that I have a prompt at the top of the firefox window to install the missing plugin...

Uses some other codec or player - cant remember just now - but you cant have windows media player in Linux of course (which is probably a good thing) :D -

VLC rules for me on windows and linux.

I am sure I have read that M$oft got fined nearly 500 million Euro for restrictive practices regarding their media player. I find it hard to swallow that I need to install it to see MSE Martin in parliament.

    Edit
I will try booting Ubuntu (a version of linux) on the other PC.

You can if you want. :p Either using the WM codecs in a native Linux player, or via Wine/Crossover. Presumably doing either breaks licences though?

But I agree, VLC is a better choice. :)

Its just the plugin you need to make microsoft embeded video to play - MS silverlight might be that plugin I am not sure exactly. Specially its needed for firefox (or probably any browser other than IE).

There is something called classic media player which is a non bloated version of Microsoft media player which retains the older style look and feel but thats another story.

    Have you got it working?

Now now I am not that desperate for windows media player on linux

I quite like mplayer - mind you I have found different media players work better with different types of media files - there are a few niggles I have about VLC but overall it seems to be the best one around.
