York or Harrogate would be my choices, but as others have said I think you'd struggle to get a non-Travelodge hotel in York for less than £120. On the other hand though it does have the advantage that if you come in by car you can have a day to drive somewhere further afield...
Maybe try lastminute.com and see if it comes up with any secret hotels?"A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -

Scarborough's not getting tatty if just won a whole heap of prizes for it's regeneration projects:-
Most Enterprising Place in Britain 2008
Winner of the 2009 European Enterprise Awards
Best town in Britain 2009 The Academy of Urbanism
And there's plenty to do that doesn't cost money. Think you are being more than a little critical - it's a beautiful place!0
