North Yorkshire Break - for a Xmas gift

Hi,
I'd like to buy my parents a two night break either somewhere in North Yorkshire, or maybe near Boston, Lincs as a Xmas present. It would have to be a fairly nice hotel - not a B&B or a travelodge! Can anyone suggest anything - they'd be travelling by car (or maybe train) from Liverpool.
Budget...erm... £120 max?
Thanks, in advance

I forgot to say Boxing day in Scarborough especially around beach gets busy, lots of folks a little tipsy, go for dip in sea sometimes for charity of the pier, its very funny I am sure they enjoy it
Usually place is buzzing with cafes open, amusements, harbour bar for wonderful cup of coffee they do best I ever tasted
Oh and a great Yorkshire welcome
What ever you choose hope they have a great time0 -
Hi, thanks for the Scarborough suggestion. I think they've been there before lots though - holidays when I was little etc. Perhaps I might go myself next year for old times sake.
I was hoping to find somewhere further inland - they like the whole historic houses and fancy gardens mullarkey. Can you recommend anywhere of that ilk? Oh - and don't worry, its for a Christmas gift, not to actually go at Christmas.
Thank you loads...

"£120 max"
Each per night, a room per night, total for two for two nights?
English Rose Hotels have a few around North Yorkshire.
Old Swan in Harrogate.
Bagdale Hall Whitby0 -
Whitby, so not too far from Scarboroug, is beautiful, winter or summer.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
York would be my suggestion, or is that too obvious. He who has four and spends five, needs neither purse nor pocket0

Stone House Hotel is ideal for the 'older' couples. I sent my parents there last year and they loved it(Yorkshire Dales):rotfl: Big Momma to 5 kids:rotfl:
Always looking at ways to save money or earn it!!!
Now could always sell a few kids;)0 -
I wouldn't say Scarborough as its getting rather tatty now and has a fair few too many stag/hen parties around. Plus, there isn't a great deal of things to do that don't involve lots of money or amusement arcades. The Raincliffe is a B&B, not a hotel even though its called a hotel.
York is a wonderful city and lots to do and a much better choice when it comes to accommodation but you might have trouble anywhere finding a hotel for two nights for £120 max.
There is also Whitby or Howarth which are both lovely at this time of year.0
