Of course you will never get caught speeding on that high horse of yours.

    Brilliant:rotfl:

I know. I'm envious. I've been wracking my brains for a suitable retort!

Serves you right for speeding. If you are not sure who was driving pay up twice, it will help pay for more new cameras, which will make the roads much safer for us all
Yeah because cameras can also stop the unregistered vehicles, the unlicenced drivers, those without MOT, insurance, Tax, drunk, under the influence of drugs.

yeah totally - speed cameras can do all these things so let's fill our country with them. They do a much better job than highly qualified traffic police. You f****** eejit.
    That, is an excellent question...

You have never heard of irony? It was a jest, aimed at the Cash Collecting camera state. stupid.gif

Like Chris, I do not believe for one minute she cannot remember who was driving but good luck to her if she gets off

im sorry but i wouldnt take the rap if i wasnt sure it was me..someone was speeding and i find a lot of company car drivers dont always concentrate on speed.. i worked for a company dealing with company cars and although your hubbys insurance wont go up now it will be noted and if he ever needs his own insurance and they check back on the companys insurance so he gets his no claims they will find out abt his speeding ticket no matter how far down the line it will be.

Apologies if that was your intention :o - but there are so many nutters who post ridiculous opinions like that, I have to say something because it's just plain wrong!! Speed cameras are as useful as chocolate teapots if the car isn't registered or the address isn't correct. With the traffic cops (on BBC1 tonight, 9:30pm) they can crush your car if you are unlicensed and uninsured. That's the way to do things

    I hate speeding camera's.
Some cop had me with a radar gun doing 43 in a 30 zone.

I asked the cop where the signs were for 30.
At the start of the road she said.

So,... I'm in an area I don't know (was working down south at the time), and not only have I got to figure out where the hell I'm going, but judge the traffic to turn into a lane AND look up AS I'm turning to check the speed limit.

    Its a joke I said.
I drive in America a lot with my job, and everywhere you drive there, signs are put up along the road informing you of the speed.
Why the hell can't they do that here?

Anyway ... insurance rose, but only by £40 odd, so not too bad.

I find it quite rude that despite not knowing me and based on the fact that I said I don't know who was driving, you assume I'm lying. The speeding took place 2 months ago and the NIP took ages to come through as it went to the company first. Can you remember where you were 6/8 weeks ago? I don't work and my husband works from home. He uses the car when he goes out during the day and I use it when I go out. We both pass the speed camera whatever way we're going. How the hell are we supposed to remember who went out at 2.30pm on a random day weeks ago?
I was not asking to be judged. I simply asked a question about the premium not how to get off paying. The police obviously don't give a monkeys who was driving so long as they get the fine.

I believe you should try some insurance quotes to get an idea what speeding offence would actually cost you or your husband. I have just played with some online quotation system and found out that if I get S30 speeding or S50 motorway speeding it would not affect my premium at all! That's probably due to the fact that there are so many speeding drivers around. However, second convinction could cost me something.

A bit off topic, but the two claims I made this year (both at fault) and was very concerned about, lead to only 10 pounds higher premium with a base price around 600 (yes, I am a young driver). I really should have done a quote earlier to protect my nerves! I used to worry about 30-50% hike!

Another issue is that we are moving house at the moment and it was astonishing to know that area choice (in the same town, about 4 miles radius) varies premium by 110 pounds. That's almost an equvalent of having serious at fault claims (like hitting a person, head-on collision, etc)!

LMAO - And of course everybody knows Spain is renowned for having no motoring accidents and the best roads in Europe. I often wonder how some people can type.............. whilst wearing a straightjacket

To answer the o.p's question, whether your premium goes up depends on your insurer, most excercise some discretion to 3 points but add to the premium above that. After all, if the motoring press are anything to go by, the number of drivers with some points is fast approaching those with clean licences.

If you do get the points then tell your insurer immediately, don't leave it until it's due for renewel.

BTW:- If its taken the NIP 2 months to arrive (as you clearly point out above) then it is not enforceable as it has to be served within 28 days of the offence.
