Thanks for the info YOUNGE1. My OH couldn't use his card to withdraw money earlier, then I tried to log on to my account online and it wasn't working!! We were both terrified that Hailfax had gone bust, as I have most of my savings with them. To say that we are relieved would be the understatement of the year.

It is a very useful post and I completely agree with those who say that this a good place to post it. It's the most popular board on MSE (well, prob this and DFW) and mostly to do with shopping. The OP was only trying to help and, judging by the number of thanks they have received so far (29 and counting) they have succeeded.

    Thanks again xoxo

I was told of a problem with LINK system this morning. If you went to a Nationwide machine to take money out of a Halifax account you wouldn't get any money as the bit that checks the balance in your Halifax account isn't working but if you have a Nationwide account you could get cash from a Nationwide ATM as it doesn't use the LINK system to chack the balance. Soundslike you've got more chance of getting money if you use your own bank. Halifax customer go to Halifax machines etc..

Errm no. nothing wrong with the LINK Network. If HBOS are off the switch that's why you can't get any money out, wether you use their own ATM or another institutions.

Amazing how much nonsense you read on these boards, It's all "I heard from the lady in the cafe"

Here we go again, yet another one.

The first part of your post would have sufficed here. The poster was trying to be helpful (because i thought thats what these boards are for:confused:). So hang the poster for not being correct!
If the boards are full of such nonsense can i make a suggestion? Find one that isnt.

Ah, I stand corrected. In future I won't inform the poster and everyone else that the comment was incorrect with no factual basis whatsoever.
