Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Saturday 14th November. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Morning OS chums.

Jayne - hugs.gifto you and the house elf
Haribo - Soooooooooo glad you are back, I missed you. rofl.gif
Missy - Nice to see you hon!
Hester - ouchies on the needle.. hope the bruise heals fast
elona - Thank you hon but this is the third christmas without them. Hope you are feeling better hon.
Mioliere - how is your sister doing?
Nordict - Oh you poor thing, I am so sorry you have been so ill, hope you feel better soon.
lowesy - Well done to your brother, that is great news
PurpleIvy - It was really inspiring to hear about your wig experiences.
lillibet - good to have you back hon!
Celyn - You are a lovely sister, I wish you were mine
Pippa - drive safely today hon and enjoy your time with your family

Ok, so I wasn't blown away in the storms last night which was a relief! Hope everyone else in the south survived the night without any dramas too.

Hmm.. well I was going to write something about missing a friend online on here but that problem has kind of solved itself so I will have to think of something else now...giggle.gif

Tristan is in so much pain. He can't sleep much because of it.

Have done a freezer inventory so at least know what we have in there. Lots of fish and sausages (given free in return for some work my OH did for a friend) and knocked down pies!! Need to do some fish pies methinks next time we have some time. Two huge bags of prawns to use up too. Not cooking much today though as we have to drive up to Exeter to drop a birthday card in for my nephew in the hope he receives it.

I just drank a can of diet coke - caffeine free but nevertheless, not really sensible. Not sure a lemon cupcake really counts as a nutritious breakfast either..:rotfl: Lunch will be egg and salad cream sandwiches and dinner will the the odds and ends of bits we found in the freezer..
To everyone who is a bit poorly head%20cold.gif - get well soon. I hope today is the best it can be for everyone. With love and light to all.

Have a good peaceful Saturday

HI MSD - I'm so sorry that Tris is in pain. It must be devastating for him. Sending lots of (((hugs))) his way.

Thank you all for your lovely kind thoughts for my sister. She is being kept in hospital for up to a week. They have run lots of tests but still haven't come up with the answer, although, worrying for her, they mentioned hepatitis. Apparently, it can be brought on by certain medications but, obviously, we're hoping that it's not that, and that they can sort the problem out soon. BIL says she is looking a lot better, and she is in the very best place, having lots of attention from various consultants.

I hope all the poorly ones are feeling better now.

Elona - I've missed a few days on here and was shocked to read how ill you've been. I hope you are feeling a lot better now.

Nordict - hope you are feeling better, too.

My cold thingy is slowly going. I felt better yesterday morning, then not so good in the afternoon, but we had been out for a walk in a lovely local park which, although very enjoyable, seemed to knock some of the stuffing out of me. Still, I know I'll be properly better soon, so I'm not complaining. There are others far worse off than me.

Dinner tonight will be an easy spaghetti bolognaise because I need something easy to do. I've lost my baking mojo since I've been unwell, though, so we've been out of cakes for a few days. I hope to feel more like it next week, especially as I want to try the lovely pear puddingy cake thing that Hugh Double-Barrel made on River Cottage the other day, which looks gorgeous. I can tell this series is going to be every bit as good as his previous ones.

I hope you have all survived the dreadful weather that was forecast for last night - and today, so I hear. We have had some of it - it's wet and windy now, but I don't think it's as bad as the UK. Hope no-one suffers any damage and that you all have a great weekend. It's not so bad if you can stay in in the warm and dry, but must be awful if you have no choice but to go out. The furthest I will be going today is the wheelie bin!

Well, I think I'll go and have a shower, and follow that with yet another cuppa.

    Have a great day, everyone.

Morning on this wet and windy morning. Thankfully the wind direction means that we don't get battered as much. I think we are planning to go to Penzance later and see what the waves are doing at high tide. Should be some good pictures.... We will stay well clear though.
I have the next 4 days off, but I have to get the MOT on the car done and also some painting, so there will be stuff to do.
Worked late last night, got some overtime, but spent some of it on Dominos pizza. They are delicious aren't they?
Well, folks have a nice day.....

Been a wild and wet night here like everywhere else in the UK.But the skies look clear this morning so maybe its all blown over now.Off to Accrington this morning as its spending money day for the tinies and the place is full of bargain shops so the kids get loads of rubbish and sweeties for their money.

Tonight being X-Factor night we will be having a takeaway whilst watching it.Not much OS'ing going on here today other than a bit of washing, ironing and tidying

MSD-Sorry to hear Tris is in so much pain, hope it eases for him soon

    Morning all,

Wow what a stormy night, and still raging here now, lashing down with rain too, dd is supposed to be going to town , will have to see if it improves at all.

I hope there is a break in the weather later, to get little dog out, neither of us enjoys walking in the rain.

DD has a friend coming for a sleepover tonight, jacket spuds for tea, with ham cheese, beans etc, and I may treat them to a tub of ice cream for pud ;) she ia a lovely girl, who lost her dad earlier in the year to kidney failure, and I think it gives her mum a bit of a break too.

I have one load in the wm, and two to go, will have to out it on the airer, need to hoover through and mop floors, and have a general tidy.

Lilibet, so nice to see you back, well done on the move, hopefully be us next :j

    Morning all

Bright but chilly here this morning. We had rain last night but not much wind to speak of so think we must have been lucky. Hope everybody came through unscathed (sp?)

Just me at home this morning as OH and DD both working - so thought I would have a lie in and a lazy morning. Typically though I was up at 6.15 as couldn't sleep and now have soup bubbling away, a casserole in sc ready for tonight or tomorrow, second lot of washing in wm, and have done all the floors and bathroom. I have no car this morning so will all jobs will revolve around the house. Mind you if I get bored Matalan is only 2 minutes walk away so I could have a look and see what they have in!

We are going across to see our friends in Manchester this evening so hope cross winds on the motorway are not too strong. I think we might be eating there (will phone them later this morning) so hence the beef and ale casserole either being for tonight or tomorrow!!! Will be lovely either way with Yorkshire puds and mash!! OH makes the yorkshires in our house as for some reason or other I seem to have lost the touch. I used to be able to make lovely ones but they are more like yorkshire biscuits lately. His however are fantastic and rise every time:mad::rolleyes::p

Diva hope Tris finds some pain relief
Moiliere - glad you are feeling better and continued good wishes for your DS - let us know how the pear pudding goes, it did look yummy
N9eav - enjoy the wave watching! I love to watch the sea and would love to live nearer to it!
Julietiff - hope your DM feels better soon
Ravylesley - I always watch Strictly first then turn over rewind and cut all adverts out of X factor - best nights viewing of the week!
SunnyGirl - hope the burgers are a success
Redruby - keep warm and dry!

    Have a good day everyone.

  • Morning all

Well I'm still here too! not been blown away...yet. I live right on the coast, literally it's 15metres away from my bedroom window, so it was a tad 'worls is going to end' last night! At the moment it's still blowing a gale but the sun is poking through the clouds.

I had a lovely time at the rugby last night. It was awful driving conditions when I set off from my house to my friend's. It's normally a 20min journey, but took almost an hour due to the roads, rain, standing water, and quite a few people had had bumps too. When I got to my friend's. her sister drove us to Cardiff along with her boyfriend. Weather had improved a bit my then, but there was so much traffic!! Got there with 45 mins to spare before kick off. The match itself was quite slow but we had good seats, 20rows back, just above where the rest of the Welsh team were sitting :) It was lovely to see my brother too.

When I got back I tried to book train tickets cos I'm going back to Cardiff again today for some retail therapy! But the website was down. I was so annoyed cos it was £2 cheaper to book in advance than buy at station - that's the MSE in me! My friend managed to book hers earlier in evening but she was getting on the station after me so she couldn't book mine. Lunckily I woke up a bit early so managed to book them this morning :) You needed 2 hours to collect at station and I booked with 2 hrs 8mins left til I leave!

So I had better get a move on and get ready. I was going to walk to station - it's about 15mins away - however I have a great fear that I may actually get blown away inot the sea :rotfl: as I've got to walk past an exposed bit of coast so I may take the car instead.

Not much OS for me other than grabbing something from the freezer for tea, and I'm going to put WM on now and leave to dry whilst I'm out.

    Have a fab day all

DH has just brought me up some tea so I can sit up in bed on DDs old laptop and browse on here.

I can't move quickly or do very much but might try to bake home made rolls today and make burgers from the lean mince from Mr T.

If I can manage it then I might get myself downstairs tonight so we can all watch X factor together.

    celyn

Your presents for your sister sound lovely and should help lift her spirits a lot.

    PennyPincher

Good luck with the wig - maybe you'll bump into Richard Gere;) Gentle hug and good luck.

    Diva

I did not realise this was the 3rd Christmas:eek:- How long can a person hold a grudge for heaven's sake? Fingers crossed anyway for you and for Tristan and your nephew.

hug to everyone and see you later.
