I've heard from a Boughton Monchelsea local that the scout hut also belongs to the Wilsons, and he chucked the scouts out a few years ago.

So that scout hut (which had one detached bungalow planning applications refused on 10-Dec-2009) goes into this auction on 22/02/2010.
Auction lot number 17.

Maidstone Area
FORMER SCOUT BUILDING WITH POTENTIAL IN GOOD LOCATION
£50,000 to £60,000
Posting this so I can easily refer back to Auction Results on Clive Emson Auction website, some time after the auction, to see if they got a buyer and the result.
*Edit: A bit from the Decision NoticeDATE RECEIVED: 23 October 2009 DATE VALID: 23 October 2009
APPLICANT: Mr Fergus Wilson
PROPOSAL: Change of use of land to residential and erection of one detached bungalow as shown on A4 site location plan, A3 existing site plan, A3 existing block, A3 site photographs, A3 proposed site plan, A3 elevations and A3 proposed floor plan.
LOCATION: SCOUT HUT, CHURCH HILL, BOUGHTON MONCHELSEA, MAIDSTONE, KENT, ME17 4HP
The reasons for this refusal are:
1. The proposed development lies outside a defined settlement, within open countryside and represents a form of development for which there is no justification and which would be contrary to the aims of Planning Policy Statement 7: Sustainable Development in Rural Areas and policy ENV28 of the Maidstone Borough-Wide Local Plan 2000.
The proposals would further consolidate existing sporadic development and cause unacceptable harm to the character and appearance of the countryside contrary to policy ENV28 of the Maidstone Borough-Wide Local Plan 2000.

I've heard from a Boughton Monchelsea local that the scout hut also belongs to the Wilsons, and he chucked the scouts out a few years ago.
Not sure how or when FW or JW, or perhaps a company controlled by one of them, acquired it. Bought hoping the planning permission would be granted for residential and a big payoff return?
Anyway the scouts lease expired (see below), and it seems likely to me the leaseholder didn't want to renew it, rather than the Scout Group choosing themselves not to extend/renew it.
The Boughton Monchelsea Scout Group were busy last year with modifying another building into a new Scout hut, with a deadline for opening it on 30th May 2009. So it seems unlikely they'll want to return to their hut... not sure what a new owner will find to do with that old hut for a return on the purchase price.
Hopefully they met their target of getting the new hut finished by their deadline.. and it's good to see people/scouts/parents contributing help, time, money, even land maybe, to further their cause. Our Hut
Our biggest single project at the moment is fundraising for, renovation of and moving too, our new scout hut.
The lease on our current site has expired and we are urgently working towards moving into our new site, to ensure we are able to secure the future of scouting in Boughton Monchelsea.- We have secured a new site, including building (needing significant modifications) with the kind help of local landowner Paul Firmin.
- We have secured planning permission for the modifications and change of use.
- With the kind help of a number of sponsors (please see the hut section for details) and a lot of hard work by the Beavers,Cubs and Scouts (not to mention the leaders, parents and supporters), but still have a fair way to go to raise the estimated cost of the project of £30,000 to £40,000.
- Hopefully work will commence on the new site soon
Work continues apace with thanks to our small (so far) dedicated team of helpers.
However, there is still much to do and we MUST be finished in time for our Grand Opening on the 30th May, if we are to continue to run a programme for our Beavers, Cubs & Scouts. So please check the volunteers section of this page to see how you can help.

Most of the properties that went into yesterday's Clive Emson auction at the Ramada Hotel & Resort (Maidstone) were sold at the auction, with a few withdrawn prior / sold prior.
From the way the Clive Emson results page is set out, it looks to me like the Wilson's Scout Hut was one of the few which didn't sell (Guide was £50,000 - £60,000).

Buy-to-let king and queen dismantle property portfolio
The Guardian - 2 hours agoDefaults by newly unemployed tenants jumped as the recession began to bite, and he admits October 2008 was the crisis point, when nearly 100 of his properties, 13% of the total, were occupied by tenants who were not paying all or part of the rent. "We asked for a meeting with our lenders. I said, if you think you can run the show better than me, you can have them all back. They said no. They were determined that we shouldn't go under. If we went under, then everyone went under.

They must be hard up, their wadrobe hasn't changed for the last five years!0

Interesting. Those who wished them to go under look like being disappointed. If I don't reply to your post,
you're probably on my ignore list.0 -
Buy-to-let is "absolutely dead and will never return". So say Fergus and Judith WilsonThe renting game has never been better. Said Fergus Wilson
Some disconnect here, surely? I think Fergus means that no-one will be able to do what they did again.
Buy-to-let is a legitimate retirement investment in an inflationary age.
Old Ferg's empathetic antennae don't pick up the effect he has with the word "game" do they?0 -
This lot tell as much truth as Labour Politians.
Fergus says his 700 properties are worth 180million. 180mill / 700 = 257K average price.
Yet the article states that they specialised in 2/3 bed starter homes which have an asking price of 180K.
700 x 180K = 126mill. If they get full asking price.
Looks like the Wilsons have 50mill of fantasy money in there protfolio.0
