i do it all of the time - it's perfectly legal and the rules are there.

    you've also got a 6-week rule that i won't go into either.
it will upset and rile a few people unfortunately.

Lets just hope the dear old taxman closes these loopholes soon ,any help to ease the burden on the taxpayer will be very welcome..;)

oh there are even more advantageous one too - have a look at the amounts of stamp duty you pay for buying property as an individual or as a Ltd Co.

there are also favourable ways of transferring property out of a Ltd Co.

I think each council has different rules, but I know where we used to live as long as a house was empty and unfurnished you didn't have to pay any council tax on it for up to a maximum of 6 months. I don't think there was a limit on how many times you could do this either.
Last time I encountered this, Manchester council did place a limit on how many times you could do this - I think it was once every 3 years. This was to avoid people "moving back in" to their property for a month or so and then leaving again, so as to reactivate the 6 months council tax exemption. I imagine Kent county council, having lost all its money in Iceland, will have or will be planning a similar policy.

Kent County Council charges £20 per week to have a skip in the road, so I can't really see them letting too much revenue get away from them.
RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

Who owns a house and plot like this I wonder?

(Give it a moment to load, hover on the Aerial tab, select 'Bird's Eye' view, and scroll the map slightly over to the right to the first B road marker point.)

I guess whoever does have ownership over that entire plot has no worries that lenders and creditors could try to make a claim against it were they to not be able to come good on debt obligations. You just get a sense that really clever people live there who've either protected through companies or whatever (PN), or seen banks lend to them whilst giving them little by way of personal security in case of default.

With Bing maps you can rotate the bird's view around. There are another 2 properties hidden away, on that plot. Don't know if they are proper houses or something else.

Anyway I've just run the postcode through Rightmove.

I can't be absolutely certain, as there is bit of room for doubt, but it seems likely to me both those new-build houses shown on the birds-eye view at the rear, are the two separately listed up for sale via an EA on Rightmove.

The certainly look pretty much identical.. comparing the Rightmove listing pics with the Bing map bird's eye view.

    Rightmove Linky (£750,000 each).

Looks good to me. Tasteless, unfinished, uncared for properties in my opinion. Not dressed for sale, not decorated with any flair.

Park the camper van up. Job's a good 'un.

Pop down the wood shop for a house name sign: P1key Towers.

There are pallets all over the place (in the EA listing for those £750K newbuilds), and a piece of wood leaning against that white meter box.

And the asking price ! Just had a search of properties within 1 mile radius to get some perspective of how it is priced against other homes in the nearby area.

Anyway here is the original planning application, for 2 detached houses with garages and access.

You can even view the planning application, and other documents, inc architect plans. (PDFs... you have to disable pop-up blocker if trying to access from the maidstone website link above, but might be able to access directly with links below)

With an address, if you need satisfying to the owner's name/mortgages and any charges... then it's only about £2 to see the Register for any address (at least in England I think), and about £5 to see the Title Plan.. edging in red the extent of the plot/property it comprises of. (prices from memory)

It's not possible to share my own data on my searches with that on an open forum (even though I'd love to), because that is data the LR rightly makes charges for, to gain their own source of revenue, and not to be freely distributed by others.

I've heard from a Boughton Monchelsea local that the scout hut also belongs to the Wilsons, and he chucked the scouts out a few years ago.
