  • unfortunately my illness has to argue with it, and around this time everynight I get the running comentary in my head of everything that WILL go wrong, and I can't make it stop.

LOL I so identify with that EOTR (sorry I abbreviate)....my brain does that to me between midnight & 3am.....in fact I have often been found talking to myself on here at silly oclock in the morning.:D:D:D

I jest but please remember one essential thing.....to keep your sense of humour!! . The debt will still be there but try & smile . Just because you are in debt & stuff looks dark just now, you will come through this.
  • bless you all,

    Morning!

Thanks to you guys last night I managed to get a couple of hours sleep

But today I have yet another worry wart.

Is it good practice for my Mum to have kept her house/ bonds/savings in her name when my father died several years ago?

I am panicing if she decided to put anything in both our names? She has never told me she has done this, would I know if she had? Would I have had to sign anything? I have been claiming benefits for the last 5 years, if I had assets or savings I didn't know about, they would have found them, wouldn't they? Surely my creditors would have found them too??? Am I just creating problems for myself???

I know the solution is to just ask her, but I can't find the words.

    Any help greatfully received

    Hi

I thought I would just send you some hugs:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: and point out that family and friends can suprise you with how helpful and understanding they can be in bad times.
Once you have made the decision to do BR it will get easier and don't forget that the court is there to allow people a fresh start that have no other option.
This board has been wonderful to me because you can talk to people that have already been through it and know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

    Good luck

    Good morning.

Your debts are your debts - no one elses - not your mums.

It is likely that if your mother had put anything into your name you would have had to provide ID to the bank or financial institutions concerned.

As your worries are mostly about your mum, would it be a good plan to tell your mum of your impending bankruptcy? You obviously care a great deal for her as she is the subject of your concern and it may be better if you can be open about this and clear up any worries you have.

Your condition is not your fault, and a bad episode has caused you hard times and over stretching yourself. I hope bankruptcy draws a line under this bad patch , that the 'excitement' of being debt free is planned for with you and your Dr and that you are able to get on with your life.

    Keep posting

  • I know, I know, and I so wish I could talk to her, but she is all I have and I can't risk losing her. Thank you for the cuddles tho, always appreciated x
  • Good morning Spirit, I really wish I could, but she is BP too and It just can't happen. Thanks for your post :)
  • Does anyone know if there is anyway I can check if anything is in my name without alerting Mum. I can't do BR until I know. Surely I would have tax forms, statements if there were, I just don't know?
