    You may view the question as irrelevant but it isn't: a LL is not able to serve a valid S21 Notice of Intent to Repossess whilst a tenant's deposit remains unregistered. The LL in this thread apparently said that they could get someone else to rent the property, implying that the OP may be asked to leave if not complying over the cat care issue.

    On a more general note, often when a LL is failing to comply with LL & T law on one issue, s/he will be failing in others too and the thread originator may not be aware.

    Would you take the cat on if you could have it? :confused:
    Seems such a shame to let it go somewhere else if the only problem is its not your cat. Surely you could ask the LL if you can have it?

    Think you need to be an adult about this,

    For whatever reason you accepted some caring responsibility or sharing accom with the cat/s.
    If you feel you have done what you agreed then put it in writing to you landlord with a reasonable timescale of when you expect the cat to be removed (14 days).
    Do not do any of the few idiotic suggestions about dumping the cat and lying. Your not a child and you open yourself to all sorts of problems if the LL takes exception (not to mention a possible prosecution if the cat comes to harm).

    At this point if the cats not removed, write again and inform your LL you will be re homing the cat yourself after 7 days if the matter isn't resolved.

    Then be responsible and take it to a charity which doesn't destroy animals.

    There is no reason to start making rash decisions when you have obviously tolerated the situation for a significant period.

    I doubt the LL really wants to find alternative tenants.

    I wondered this and doubt it tbh, i would think however that in conducting this in a writen fashion and with clear expectations, timescale and reminding LL about the agreement made on accepting to move in, the LL will resolve the issue. responsibility and thus ownership may be established in this process which opens the possibility of re homing. What the T does after any deadline passes is obviously dependant on what has happened.

    One thing I am not sure of is if the LL shares the same property, if so removing the cats against the LL wishes would be very un wise as it is anyway without establishing satisfactory ownership.

    If in doubt get some proper advise from cab or similar.
