Has anyone else had problems updating their peer guardian 2 block lists in the last few days, every time I try to update then I always get the message “error contacting url” its never done that before, I have tried disabling the lists and then updating and I have also tried allowing http but nothing has helped

Try PeerBlock: http://www.peerblock.com/
http://www.peerblock.com/docs/faq#peerblock_vs_pg2PeerBlock is actually based on the same code used to create PeerGuardian - specifically, the "PG2 RC1 Test3" Vista beta version. That code had a LOT of bugs in it, and hadn't been updated for about two years. So I started up this PeerBlock project to fix all those things that'd been annoying me for so long. A bunch of other people decided to pitch in and help out, some with development, some with testing, and now we're where we are today.
So compared with old PeerGuardian software, PeerBlock is much more stable, doesn't require nearly so many hacks/workarounds to get working on Vista/Win7, and is actually under active development . . . so we can (and will!) actually respond to new bug reports or feature requests.Everybody is equal; However some are more equal than others.0 -
Thanks I heard about peer blocker on torrentfreak.com
but I still wanted to continue using peer guardian at present
is their anyway to continue updating the block lists ?0 -
No idea, but I jumped ship last month.
PeerBlock is almost exactly the same to use as PeerGuardian, right down to the interface.Everybody is equal; However some are more equal than others.0 -
I will have to think about moving over to peerblock too
I looked it up on youtube and it did look the same apart from the name
the youtube poster called it peerguardian 3 and he also reported that peerguardian 2 was no longer working properly or updating
I just hope peerblock is safe because I dont know anything about the person who rewrote it - or what he put in it.0 -

well if your sure thats its prefectly safe (nothing hidden inside the source code) i will also switch to peerblock (aka peerguardian 3)
thanks peerguardian 2 it was fun while it lasted
thanks everyone0 -
Peerblock is perfectly safe
They simply took the source code and taken all the bugs out of it (Meaning its actually safer than PG2):idea:0 -
PeerGuardian lists stoped updated for me ages ago. I then started using the Bluetack lists (but still within PeerGuardian). Still works fine for me, but I'll have a read about peerblock too.
Edit - ooooooh signed driver for PeerBlock (as opposed to PeerGuardian). 1 more to go and I can turn off my Windows 7 test mode.0 -

These are the main lists (I found it useful to be able to get steam up and running without having to switch it off)

I thought discussing methods of breaching copyright were banned here?
Mind you as none of these supposed guardians work 100% I guess it's fine for you to all carry on.0
