Goods sent back before the end of 30 day free trial have been charged for

Options
I ordered some mineral makeup on a 30 days free trial basically if the makeup was not good I could phone the company up to 15 days after the goods arrived
get a returns number and send the goods back with 9 days and I would not be charged

When I ordered the goods I gave my debit card number to pay the postage
The goods arrived on the 14th October and I used the goods for a week ( whilst I was on Holiday) and I came out in a rash - I phoned on 26th and got a returns number - I explained that I would be away until 29th but it was well within the time - I sent the goods on the 30th

Today I found out that they took the full amount of 79.95 on the 3rd November
I have tracked the return and they had the goods back on the 2nd November

I had also at the time of posting photographed the parcel - packaging and contents as they stated on their T&C that goods had to be returned with all packaging intact

The CS dept is closed until Monday , is there are any legislation I can quote
when I contact them

Thanks

  • Surely the packaging wasn't intact if you used the makeup? Sorry, maybe I missed something here but maybe that's the reason you have been charged although I don't see how you can trial a product unless you use it!

Did the returns specifiy you could actually use the goods and if not satisfied return them or could you only return unused goods for a refund.

£80 make up is extremely expensive IMO, what make was it?

You seriously thought you could have the use of £80 worth of make up for free for 30 days???

The make up is of no use being returned.... what could they possibly do with used make up?? Sell it again?? Didn't this ring alarm bells??

From the little amount we know so far.....

The make up was overpriced junk worth pennies
By giving you account details you have simply fallen for a pretty old scam

Good luck in your ongoing fight....have a read through some of the other posts where people have taken offers for free, only paying p&p.

How do people keep falling for this nonsense???
  • Reading up on mineral makeup it seems that this type of makeup is supposed to be good for sensitive skin and not cause reactions etc. I'm not saying that this isn't the case with you OP but is there maybe something else you were using on holiday that caused your rash, or maybe something you ate?

Do just as BFG says, go for a chargeback.

To the other posters, of course a trial means that yu can try the make up.

What do you think it means, you get a parcel of make up, look at it, then decide - dont be silly, there would be no point in that.
I wouldnt dream of going into Boots and buying some make up because i liked the packaging.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Good!! then you wouldn't fall for some bollox about only having to pay p&p for a free trial of a consumable product!!??

Don't underestimate the stupidity of people!! there are loads who fall for this "oh so" BLATENT scam...

They must fall over lots of time per day.

Looks like you did everything properly so not sure why they charged you?

I'd be fighting to get my money back. Tell them you have proof of the date they received the make up back.
