Vodafone Overcharging??
Hi Guys
I have a contract for my 12 yr old daughter that is £10 a month, she gets 100 mins and 500 texts (although I believed it was unlimited at time of purchase on vodafone.co.uk). She has gone over by a couple of £ a few times but this months bill was £140!!! I rang and she has used 160 mins and 1465 texts so they say, her using her phone too much is an issue anyway but I'm confused how Vodafone can charge that amount of money when their next tariff is £15 a month for 300 mins and unlimited texts, yet they're charging me £140 for less usage, can they do this?

Sounds like you need to clear up how many text's are really on the contract.
If it is 500 and she's used close to a thousand more and 60 more minute, yes, of course they can change you more. The amounts on the contract are just the allowance they give you for free and more usage is changeable.
First step, establish what the contract is for.0 -
It is upto the contract owner (you as 12 year old can't have a contract) to ensure they stay within there limits of the tariff, and pay for any usage above. Contracts don't vary as in you pay the lowest i.e. nothing if you don't use the phone, then when your your usage increases it would fit better into another tier in the tariff and go up automatically, this is not how it works.
If you believed to have unlimited texts you needed to have checked the contract, and if it was missold have complained and stopped using the phone at that point. Based on what you have posted so far that point has passed.
Unfortunately you are going to have to pay although if you complain enough they may give a goodwill gesture of upto £50, which is why we have advised on this forum putting under 18 on T-Mobile Solo Fixed where the limits are fixed, or get them to pay for the contract themselves.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
Thanks for the comments, I know its up to me to check the contract etc I was more mad at how they can justify those charges when to be on a contract and be entitled to more mins and texts than those used is £15! I'll try a letter see how I get on, cheers guys0

My brother is travelling around Australia and manged create a £451 bill .... With that his account was barred due to over usage. I contacted them on my brothers behalf and my parents and I choice to keep the br on his account so too stop any more crazy bills.
The customer advisor told me we could take the bar off as I would need to contact a different department so we assumed the bar would stay on.
My brother starts using an Australian pay and go sim card and stops using Vodafone.
We receive. Bill today for 1 month of £11,750 ....... I contact them and ask them one how the hell this could be and two why the bar was taken off.
they tell me they took the bar off after I asked them not too and they say tht is th bill amount.
This charge is for data
Time to contact our solicitors ..... Any advice0
