Unmetered bill, is it a bit steep?

in Water bills
I've just moved into a one bedroomed flat that is served by United Utilities. I've never been responsible for the water bill before so have no idea what is reasonable and what isn't but the bill I've just received is a lot more than I was expecting.
Water standing charge £44.00
Water rateable value charge £127.20
Sewarage rateable value charge £204.40
Total £375.60
The property currently doesn't have a meter and is a one bedroomed ground floor flat. I'm going to call them tomorrow and query it but can anyone give me an idea if I have much chance getting it reduced?
Thanks in advance.

Hi
The water bill looks reasonable for an unmeasured customer,
If you go to United Utilities website and download the "about water meters" leaflet...
http://www.unitedutilities.com/?OBH=3446
It says if theres 1 person in the household and your average unmeasured bill is £300-400 you could save £92 to £192.
If theres 2 in the house savings are £0 to £100
Hope that helps,

Cheers DJ1UK, looks like I'm going to have to have a word with the landlord about getting a meter.0

If it's any help, to give a comparison.
I live alone in a three bedroom house and my water rates with Welsh Water were about £330 a year when I asked for a water meter to be installed about three years ago. I had it done about four months before they started fitting them for free, but paid the £80 because I felt I would be financially better of to get it done sooner rather than wait six months.
For the last two years, my water but has been £122.0 -
That's really expensive. We live in a 2 bed terrace and ours unmetered is £133 a year. It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.0

Just had mine today - not long moved into a 3 bed semi, we're paying United Utilities £360 a year. More expensive than I thought it would be... And because they didn't get around to sending me the bill until today (we moved in April 1st) the direct debit is over 9 months, not 12. Rubbish.....0

You are being screwed. A bloke I work with has a house 2/3 bed and his annual bill unmetered was £80. Mine is more like yours. I too like in a flat on the ground floor. But what I don't understand is that ours should be cheaper as we don't have a garden for starters. I going to go on a meter and my bills should halve.0
