To date since records began, there have been less than a handful of virus's that could spread without the users assistance. Virus's spread either through naivety, lack of common sense or pure laziness

Yes but "user assistance" could simpy be browsing to a website which itself is genuine and innocent. They're the type that really infect your pc even if you're following all common sense, from personal experience.

The majority of viruses are spread through email attachments.

    Hi Strider590

I wonder whether the AntiVirus companies also have these teams of people writing viruses and then release them onto the Net just to keep themselves in business.

    There's a thought.

    Yes. A bad one.

Nothing can install itself on your PC without your agreement.....

However your agreement could be as simple as clicking on a fake "close window" button on an internet popup. The only thing you can trust is ALT+F4.
Windows that won't close until you finally agree to install something, these catch a lot of people out because without knowing to use the task manager to close these windows, most people will agree to anything just to get rid of a popup.

Most web based virus's come from:
    Ring tone websites
    Game cheat websites
    Pr0n websites
Social networking sites that have "uncensored" apps

MSN messenger virus's are widespread and usually invoke you into opening a dodgy weblink.

Email virus's there's absolutely NO excuse for getting these, if your not expecting an attachment, DO NOT open it.....

    SIMPLES!
