It aint that great lol =P but thank you :-)
  • The thought you have put in to this gift is what Xmas is all about. You have really thought about your Mum and her partner and are giving them a dream. You obviously love them very much and your Mum must be so proud of the child she raised.

    Wonderful.

what a lovely present. My mum & stepdad took us to Vegas about 5 years ago for xmas & only told us the week before. Stepdad is a bit of a computer whizz and sat us all down in front of the laptop to watch a slideshow of pics of Vegas, with the last slide saying: "get packing - you're going to Vegas"

You're a very thoughtful daughter & Im sure they'll have an absolute ball!

  • DaveLy - I have a single daughter, she could do with a guy like you! ;):p

Seriously though, what a fantastic present. How about adding a cheap Las Vegas guidebook to the other pressies and present it to her just before you give her the tickets? I bought the Lonely Planet one from Amazon at several pounds below rrp.

If she's computer savvy, buy her a nice notebook and direct her to the Las Vegas thread. I've been reading it every night this week to try and get as many tips as possible for our visit next week - you definitely need to take notes as you go along.
some people grin and bear it, others smile and do it :)
  • Firstly - this is a really, really nice thing to do. I'm sure your mum will be delighted and proud of you.

Regarding how to "wrap" the gift. I agree that the scrap book idea could be really good. Someone who's realy crafty (I think maybe the lady who has a website called "fiddle fart" - I always forget the link to her blog) did one similar for her daughter who was receiving a trip to London. For example you could buy a nice spiral bound notebook type book (paperchase are lovely, I saw some in Asda today too!). On the first page put something like "I have been thinking long and hard about what to buy you for Christmas..." with a picture of a present. On the next page "I thought about socks, but wanted to get you something a bit more special..." (with a photo of socks). Next page; "So, after thinking long and hard I decided to buy you..." Next page "A trip to Las Vegas". Next page "You will be leaving on XXth May 2010, flying from XXXX Airport (picture of a plane). "You will arrive in Las Vegas at XXhours and travel to the MGM Grand 4* hotel" (pic of hotel). Whilst you are away you will be able to see tigers (pic), dolphins (pic), etc etc - I think I've over excited myself there. But you get the jist!

Other idea would be to buy her a travel journal from Paperchase and write in the front "I thought this would be handy to record all your favourite moments during your trip to Las Vegas".

Or a stocking with little "Holiday essentials" with the tickets (or a "voucher" to represent the tickets as i know you rarely receive tickets now!) at the very bottom.

Please do let us know what you do and come back to tell us how she reacts!
