Items getting lost/stolen in post?

In the past few weeks I have had several large packages not arrive. One of them I will get a refund from the company I ordered from after waiting a certain amount of time. The other, they are sending out a replacement.

I just spoke to my mum and she is in the same situation. She has two large parcels which also have not arrived.

Not sure what is going on, whether it is because of the strikes and delay to post or whether it is something more sinister such as parcels being stolen (either by the postmen or by my neighbours in my block of flats).

Has anyone else experienced more missing parcels during the credit crunch?

I'm not aware that I have had any items go astray apart from a contract sim card that I ordered a week ago and which was apparently sent 1st class post on Monday.

Are your items going RM or courier as you mention 'large packages'.

RM delivered a parcel to my house yesterday (left on doorstep). It's not for me, the address is not at all similar to mine. The post code is completely different and about 100 miles away!

I rang RM to inform them and they asked me to return it to the sorting office. As he sorting office is the other side of the city I am not doing that. I have given them 7 days to collect or I will dispose of.

Sender's address on back of parcel so I have also informed them.

Yes, all items sent by RM.

Yes, all items sent by RM.

Then call your local delivery office and make sure they haven't just forgotten to card you. If the items are going astray then call RM complaints and register a formal complaint as they will investigate.

  • I am getting upset aswell I have had loads of parcels o missing in the last two weeks. At present I am having a dispute with an ebay seller who posted item on the 2nd Nove, rang RM today and they told me it has gone to doncaster which is a long way away from me and was delivered on the 5th. I told the seller this and they say RM haven't said anything like that to her and that it is still in the system. It is recorded delivery first class aswell. The second item is completely missing and isn't sent recorded so I have no idea where that is!

Good luck in getting your parcels, Tiger x

In the past week I've had to refund a buyer on ebay and received a refund from a seller.
I'm waiting for another buyer to raise a dispute for another non-delivery, and we also never received a school blazer from Lewis's for the start of term.

Does anyone know if RM have still got temporary staff working for them to clear the backlog (if it exists)? Or even if they took any on in the first place?
You only need a couple of bad apples in the group (maybe only 1 in a couple of hundred temps) for a significant amount of stuff to disappear into the ether (ie their pockets).

I returned home today to a blank card left on the ledge outside my house. Not really sure whether this was meant to have been written out however I can see that there are 'scratch marks' like the postie has tried to get a pen working on something on top & I found a discarded pen on the grass outside my house! I have letters through the door, and one was marked with a P which usually indicates a package. I am going to go to the post office tomorrow as I am expecting a package and just wonder whether it was intended for me, but the pen ran out???

I know we have had random posties of late, which I can only assume are predominantly casual staff, so god only knows what it going on.

I would expect there are still delays though, as the news was reporting about a week or so ago that there were still millions of items of mail to deliver. I have a buyer waiting for an item and I have asked them to wait just a bit longer than normal before we start looking at a refund, as I am sure some areas are more stretched than others...?
