*Orange.. Sigh* Somebody, pleeeease, help me!

Maybe it was March/ April this year, a night out in a strange town by the name of st helens resulted in me leaving my mobile phone in a pizza place..

Those pizza making jerks decided to make calls to Lybia, which resulted in a £700 bill pour moi.

I phoned orange as soon as i realized i'd lost it, and the weirdos decided to cancel my insurance there and then... I never bothered to get a crime reference number, seeing as I am dippy. And as for the bills coming in, I just ignored them. As you do.

So the bills are still rolling in, threatening letters about taking legal action etc...

CAB advised me to ask for their disputes procedure, and orange want me to call their mobile digits helpline, which costs a !!!!!!! bomb from a landline, and result in more chargers to mother hen. Even if I do call them, what am I meant to say?

Hello orange, you can frigg off!!??

    Your post is not clear.

Did Orange cancel the stolen sim or are the thieves still racking up costs?

Did you ask for another replacement sim for the balance of your contract?

You have a number of self inflicted wounds here.

    1. Losing the phone
    2. Not realising that you have to pay the monthly rental till the end of the contract even if you have lost the phone.
    3. Not dealing with this earlier.

The only help you will get on the forum is to understand your obligations and get in touch with Orange, otherwise you will get a ccj and your credit will be screwed for years - and that is a lot more hassle than the cost of a call to Orange to sort it out.

Best realise as well that the contract will run and run after the initial period so your debts will mount up and up.

None of this can be laid at Orange's door, so no need to take it out on them.

You are liable for all calls made on the phone upto the time you report it lost/stolen., so Orange are right to chase you for the outstanding.
I can't quite see the point of going to the disputes procedure as you admit you lost the phone?
They may let you pay over a few months but not talking to them and ignoring the bills isn't the way to deal with it. You'll end up with a trashed credit file for the next 7 years if you don't do something about it soon.
  • Yeah I lost it, my bad.

My credit is already screwed 'cause i've been really lazy with getting things sorted. Only today have i managed to speak to every creditor and sort things out. I'm sure I'll manage without credit ever again, it only seems to get me into trouble.

OK so WHEN I phone them the question remains, what can I say? I ask for the complaints/ dispute procedure and then what?!

    Thank you :)

All you can do is talk to the billing section and see how much they'll take over how long. They may offer a reduction as good will if this is the first problem with payments. But they're going to need at least half (I'd think) over a few months.
All you can do is explain what's happened and see what response you get...

I agree with the above, you are liable for all calls until you report it, and insurance will only pay out for a lost phone (and sometimes calls aswell) if you report it to the police within 24 hours or asap.

Ignoring it, will have made this worse and you need to deal with it now. Depending on your other debts it maybe worth while speaking to the national debtline on the best plan to deal with your debt problems as you mention you have other creditors.

Maybe it was March/ April this year... (you need to find out!)

i've been really lazy with getting things sorted... (pull your finger out and get on with it!)

If it's one thing I have learnt it is not to let it all snowball. you dont seem too bothered about it?

Don't forget you are being charged for an ongoing contract. At least see if they will reinstate that if you agree to pay off balance. That debt will mount month by month and remember to cancel the contract at the earliest chance.

But the consensus is to get a grip on things and talk to Orange asap.
