HELP! My father-in-law has been mis-sold mobile

Can anyone advise please! My Father-In-Law mentioned he was going to get one of these special offers he'd seen advertised, that was in July, he wanted PAYG, wasn't bothered about texts (he dosen't really use texts) but he wanted as many minutes as he could for about £10 - 15 a month, and wanted to keep his own phone because it was quite new! What they talked him into was a contract, new phone, unlimited texts and just 100 minutes a month, and it would cost £15.00 a month! I didn't know any of this, just that he had got a new phone, until last weekend when we went out for a meal and he pulled his old phone out of his pocket, I asked him where was his new phone? he said he'd had to stop using it because he couldn't afford it any longer, turns out he'd had bills for £70 plus. He's in his 70's, a bit hard of hearing and gets confused easily, to cut it short they saw him coming and conned him! He said that he explained what he wanted and they provided him with the complete opposite, i've just seen the paper work for it and he has charge's for things that he will never use like; photo monthly, a charge for loading and storing your photos onto the internet, he dosen't even have a computer! A £6 a month charge for insurance for a phone worth just £70, a £3 charge to pay his bill in the shop because he's old and dosen't trust banks/direct debits, and a new charge of £1.50 if you don't register on line for paperless bills! Last month he had over 60 minutes left to use but still got a bill for £36.78! Is there any way I can get out of this for him, I need to know what I am talking about before I tackle the shop about it next week!

I assume it's Orange?
I doubt you can get out of the contract may be worth a letter of complaint to head office but I think it would need to be your FIL who would need to write as it happened to him
either way get him to ring them, add you or someone else as a 3rd party user (means you can make certain amends on his behalf) cancel the insurance, itemised billing, additional bundles, non dd charge stands unless he changes to direct debit no way out of that
have you seen his latest bill, even with the extras you've mentioned it shouldn't come to that muchYes Your Dukeiness

If it is Orange then write to the Exec office, the guys in in CS (good as they are) won't be able to sort this.
Tell them the whole story, when, which dealer etc. and see what they come up with.
The Exec office is there for occasions when CS can't help of for area where they don't have any powers to sort things out...

Sorry not replied sooner everyone, I had to go to work just after I posted my thread. Thanks for taking time to reply.
reehsetin, yes it was orange, how did you know that, are they notorious for this or something? I've already suggested he ring himself, but you and I know what will happen, they will tell him nothing they can do and he will just accept it, he won't argue they will walk all over him again! I have his latest bill here in my hand, he has over 60 minutes left out of his 100 and the bill still comes to £36.78, if I could somehow scan it and post it on here I would, it is full of charges even I don't understand!
jon o1, thank you for the address and email address i'll be on to it over the weekend, still can't work out how you all knew it was orange though.0 -

£6 insurance 11.50 billing and £3 non DD is spot on their charges,
there will be a bit on i think the 3rd page
e.g.
dolphin 15 24 month 01 Nov - 30 Nov - £15.00
photo bundle - £x
Care - £6
calls to other networks -£0.00
if you could copy that bit it would really help, explain to FIL that just for now so the bills will be less (the only cost would be the basic £15) and then sort out the other stuff after but at least you're reducing the costYes Your Dukeiness

Did he buy it in an Orange shop, or through a third-party dealer like Carphone Warehouse, Phones4u, JAG etc?0
