reconditioned car engine help plz

Options
hi
my daughter bought a reconditioned car engine for her car it was bought over the phone after she placed a request on an online car part site and a garage contacted her

the engine arrived but has

no paperwork
no rocket cover
no rocket cover gasket
no exhaust inlet manafold
dirty/clogged
millage is more than 38k ( an opinion of a mechanic)
not well looked after
no dip stick tube
no bolts
not reconditioned even though thats what i got told it was (again an opinion)

she bought it with her visa debit card making payment over the phone and bought unseen as it was an online company so to speak

it arrived on monday even though initially she got told it would be here last thursday...when we contacted them he said he couldnt deliver on time cos he had lost contact details and therefore could not get in touch..

what are her rights

she works hard and its is a lot of money £350 and £50 delivery

help much appreciated please....thanks in advance

Well she's going to have a very hard time proving what was agreed (i.e it would be reconditioned and not just an engine) and that it was to include covers, screws etc and finally that the mileage was 38k or not 38k.

it is apparently covered by a 3 month warranty which is on the email and was mentioned on the phone

Yes, under the DSR the buyer will pay for postage/transport back to the seller unless specified otherwise in the sellers T&Cs.

A recon engine would be one that's had a full rebuild with any boreing, replacement bearing, pistons, ect done as required. A good clean would normally be part of this process.
An engine with only 32k on it shouldn't need much doing to it. Maby a new cam belt and a good clean and strip down to check no parts are overly worn.
