OK Sean. Fair enough. You have proved your case admirably (for me at least). I stand corrected although I guess we all have our own experiences to relate.
I use Force9 and, yes, they have changed their T&C several times. As a result I have had various "admin" and contractual debates with them as well - even though I use their services for my limited company/business not "home" use.
Perhaps shortsightedly, I was focussing on the issue of colmil maybe having a problem whith the modem. In other words, I was more interetsted in the techie aspects of why the computer couldn't connect and possible malfunctioning kit.
On a general note about ISPs I think your description of the cool water/boiling frogs is a good one. I also hear radio ads. for companies likeTiscali suggesting their's is a simple "no catches" monthly payment for unlimted downlaods etc. yet their "small print" also has capped downloads, it seems, service isn't available everywhere, a "fair use" policy and Lord knows what other hinderances. The current debacle with Talk Talk's combined offer (broadband/line rental/phone calls) is also going horribly wrong too from what I hear. It seems BT are playing about not releasling lines to TT or some such issue.
I wonder if all this isn't false advertising sometimes.
Sean ... when you got out of Plusnet did you find a better solution? Is it still good for you?
