Ok Guys, thanks for all your replies, I left it on all night but when I got up this morning it was still the same So I rebooted the pc & the same message is still coming up,also the message 'The system has recovere from a serious error'

Any ideas as to what to do? Thanks in advance

Get your windows installation cd and put it on cd rom or dvd rom drive.

Click start and type or paste in sfc /scannow

Then you can do a check from the desktop.

Shar, check the maker of your hard drives website, they will have free tools which will allow you to check if your HD is dying (which I don't believe it is) and probably other advice on your problem in their support forums.
