    Ok Guys, thanks for all your replies, I left it on all night but when I got up this morning it was still the same :confused: So I rebooted the pc & the same message is still coming up,also the message 'The system has recovere from a serious error'

    Any ideas as to what to do? Thanks in advance :o

    Get your windows installation cd and put it on cd rom or dvd rom drive.

    Click start and type or paste in sfc /scannow

    Then you can do a check from the desktop.

    Shar, check the maker of your hard drives website, they will have free tools which will allow you to check if your HD is dying (which I don't believe it is) and probably other advice on your problem in their support forums.
