  • Just ignore, no need to get a new number.
  • It's a company called J B Debt Recovery and they recover debts for all sorts of companies, not just Southern Electric.

I had a debt with a Home Learning Company and it was JBDR who recovered the debt.

They do however, tout for business and I've had several calls from them claiming I owe them money when I was in fact paying off EXACTLY the same debt with a different company.

When dealing with JBDR I got so sick of them phoning me that I wrote requesting that they only contact me in writing - they completely ignored me.

However, they were very good in accepting a tiny monthly payment from me and when I was in a position to pay off all my debts they took a brilliant full and final payment.

It is some debt collection agency in Glasgow and from research on the internet it is some type of scam.

So how can I pea them off without it costing me money?

    Rob

best bet is to ignore them or send them a message if you want to talk to me then call me if you have a problem then put it in wrighting they will never put it in righting as they do not like to they can not intimidate you in wrighting that gives you leaveage in court and they know its ilegal to intimidate people never reply to them when they text you unless you send them a message saying for them to call you and when they call you all you have to do is tell them that the conversation is been recorded and if they dont like that then they should corrispond through the mail
    regards
ps do not let them intimidate you even if you are not recording the conversation tell them that you are but always do it at the begining of the conversation if they say they do not give there permition for you to record the conversation just say thats ok good bye and put the phone down :j

If you have free unused minutes on a contract mobile them call them up! What do they like wearing? Favourite sexual positions?

Get some online quotes from moneysupermarket and put their phone number in the relevant box.

    Service station toilets.

Use your imagination (though granted it isn't as perverted as mine). :D

    Hi All,

I use this site a lot but this is the first time i've posted. I'd like to go through the 'battle' I had with these people and how I got successfully removed from their 'black list' (yey!).

Started getting very aggressive calls from them telling me I had unpaid bills from Wessex Water (it seems the buy bad debt from utility company’s) and that I had to pay immediately. They were very cagey at first, never giving names and giving limited information about the bill. Turns out it was for a place I stayed over 5 years ago. I asked repeatedly to see the bill as I wanted to check if I had left by that time which I believe I had.

Anyway the phone calls kept coming and the people were getting more aggressive and threatening and they simply were not giving over any details but demanding the money. I kept saying "I'd be happy to pay if you send me some proof" but they did not and eventually I started hanging up on them.

About 18 months after this all started I got and actual letter, terribly written, from James Brown of JB Debt Recovery clearly stating they wanted payment of £113, which they would (very kindly) reduce to £90 if I paid immediately.

    I wrote them this letter:

    ******

    Dear Mr Brown,
    Reference Number: 4######
    Account Number: 13######
    Balance Outstanding: £1##.##

I am writing regarding the letter you sent to me dated 12/04/2011, a copy of which is enclosed.

As I’m sure you understand I am unable to pay any outstanding debts without some additional information about the debt. You have failed to outline when the debt was incurred, at which property it was incurred and what it was for. I therefore politely request that you provide the following details:

    • When the debt was incurred
    • The property at which the debt was incurred
    • What the original debt was for
    • A copy of the original bill

I will be very happy to discuss this further once it has been established that it was I who incurred this debt. I look forward to hearing from you.

    Yours sincerely,
    #########

    ******

Just before putting a stamp on I decided that these people were not worth the 46p to tell them information already discussed at length on the phone. I trawled the net for "@jbdr.co.uk" and found several email addresses. I attached the letter to the following email and guessed direct to James would be j.brown@jbdr.co.uk, the email is:

    ******
    Reference Number: 4475621

    176 Bath Street
    Glasgow
    G2 4GH

    Dear James Brown

Attached is a copy of my response to your letter dated 12/04/11. I will also add that your persistent telephone calls and unsubstantiated claims of debt in my name constitute harassment.

The Protection from Harassment Act 1997 clearly states that you have given me course of conduct due to the persistent repetitive nature of your correspondence regarding this matter, and until now each time without giving names, facts or evidence and using threatening and abusive language.

Should this continue I will get a civil court injunction to stop harassment and claim for damages due to anxiety and loss of earnings.

    Regards
    ########

    ******

I had another semi-literate response from James within 30 minutes which is as follows:

    ******

    Dear sir ,
With regard your letter regarding Bristol wessex I have looked at your case and see you have put the phone down at least twice
So I fail to see whos upsetting who if you haven’t even spoke to anyone .i have spoken to our client who cannot produce details
You have asked for we have therefore closed the file thank you james brown.

    ******

So success, these charlatans seem to be conning people by verbal and written harassment. Without having any credible information to back themselves.

    DON’T PUT UP WITH IT!

Feel free to copy what I have written and send it to them. Good luck.

    Dr Pek
