  • hi all,

just noticed this morning that, if I put 3 or more tubs into the basket, the price will be at £9.99 each... so it is not "completely" 3for2; i.e. 10 tubs for £99.90

What I am interested in finding out is - has anybody actually experienced dvd rot?

Unfortunately I have - I backed up all my files to DVD. (I know NOW I should have bought better quality) and put them in a 'Disc Stakka' (Great for storing discs). Unfortunately when I went to retrieve some of the files you can see the coating separating from the plastic. Some discs won't mount, others will only let me get some files. This is not due to bad handling or storage but poor discs. Due to falling prices on hard drives I purchased extra hard drives and back up to them.
  • Are these discs that Play have on offer printable? Are they silvers or a white surface?

I've not suffered DVD Rot, but I have suffered CD-r rot. Mostly on cheap silver topped cd's. Been kept in the dark in fairly even temperatures but if you hold them up to the light you can see the sun shining through numerous small holes.

Burning reliability at 16x is dependent on a number of factors. I always tend to burn at a notch or two below the quoted maximum, but I don't think there's necessarily a scientific reason for doing so.
I HAVE burned 8x Sonys' at 16x on a Pioneer writer with no ill effects though.

I ordered 150 of these yesterday, thanks again to the op.
