SONY DVDR ( + or - ) buy 100 get 50 FREE

SONY 8x DVD-R or DVD+R buy 100 get 50 free. With free delivery works out at 20p per disc. There are, of course, cheaper discs available but for a really good brand name i think this is a bargain.

In all seriousness, they are far too expensive to begin with. Even if it was buy 1 get 1 free, I'd still go elsewhere.
You can get far better media for lower prices on other sites (e.g. burn-media.co.uk).0 -

Please tell me which DVDR`s you know for a fact are a superior product at a better price and how you back this up. I spent over 5 hours today trying to find a good disc at a fair price on Google and here :
http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia
and here:
http://www.cdr-zone.com/articles/recordable_dvd_quality_page_1.html
The above site rates only 5 DVDR`s brands as the best available giving them a premium rating and SONY happens to be one of them.
The site you mention was looked at by me earlier today amongst many others. Again, i found nothing that matched my criteria of good disc at a fair price. I really am prepared to be enlightened.
Oh, and one user has thanked me already for this info so you keep burning on cheapos but don`t be surprised when you play them next year and all you data has gone. It`s getting to the point0 -
So you copy large quantities of DVDs illegally and sell them and tell us about it on a reputable forum.

come on....this person is obviously giving us excellent advice that nobody else has so far. The advice is really relevent and i found it extremly useful. Lets not go onto the morals of what they do?0 -
Ridisc, Rivision etc have had plenty of bad reviews - the very fact that their name appears to trade on the reliability of Ritek (ri) brands is worrying in itself.
Taiyo Yuden dyes are rightly regarded as the Rolls Royce of DVDr, but are available at Rolls Royce style prices. If your data is valuable though, these are the way to go. Ritek G05 dye seems to be having a lot more problems than the old G04 and the jury seems to be out as to the durability of these disks.
However, last year I bought 200 of these Sony disks from B&Q who were selling them off at £4.95 per 25 (not far off the posters price here), and they are indeed excellent quality. Coming up to a year and the data is still sound and I have every confidence that it will remain so, unlike the cheaper brands or even the current Ritek crop.
For home users these disks, although rated to 8x, actually burn in my home PC (Liteon drive) at up to 16x without fail.
At around £5 for 25, or 20p each, I would consider these something of a bargain if you wish to have a degree of confidence about the lastability of your media.
Sony, Taiyo Yuden & Verbatim appear the way to go at the moment for QUALITY data storage.0 -

No, listen to Damman for the advise. You won't go wrong with discs with a Taiyo Yuden dye... as long as they aren't fake Taiyo Yuden discs of course!
Verbatim, Panasonic and Taiyo Yuden discs are available at a reasonable price at the very reputable SVP, especially at times when the postage is reduced.
However, these are all more expensive than the Sony discs at Play which appear to receive decent reviews (though the -R reviews are better than +R ones).0 -
can we not turn this thread into a debate or argument about which are the best discs or what people do or don't do, legal or otherwise? Please

It'll just get argumentative and then get closed down which won't help anybody.0 -
That is quite a good offer.
if you went to svp ( or other) and ordererd just 150 discs ( even the cheapest non printables) and applied the delivery costs, it wouldnt be far off that , if it was even cheaper at all. (the bulqpak smileys with economy courier work out at £27.93). For the extra £2.05 your getting sony discs.(1.3p per disc)
2% back through Quidco too, ( not a huge amount, but hey it all counts)
I use printables myself (svp code 3344)found them to be an ok disc, few bum burns, but that was prob the hardware throwing a wobbly
Non printables arnt in the 3 for 2 offer at play tho
Think we really only need to know if people can find a better price/better product anywhere, but i doubt you will0 -
There is a good down to earth site with media/burner reviews here: http://www.dvd-recordable.org/Reviews.phtml
You need to find out which media works best on your dvd burner. My cheapo nec drive gets on well with datawrite grey discs (fuji dye), and burns g04/g05 more slowly. You can get trial media packs from suppliers to test out on your burner.desrever sthgir lla0
