is this true?
Are your current car insurance premiums affected if you do a comparison on another car?
Story: -
We have just called a car insurance company to insure my other half's 03 plate Rover, he has 8 years no claims, he's 38 years old and has no convictions.
The Company gave him a quote of £1,200 per year!!
One of the reasons it was so high was because within the past few months I had been on comparison sites for quotes on a BMW 318 we were thinking of having - because i have requested a quote for another car they hycked the insurance up? has anybody else heard of them doing this?
Anyway we rang his bike insurer and they managed to get it with the same company as above for £325.00.
So why would the first company want another £900.00 a year?
Any answers greatfully received.
Thanks in advance

sounds like rubbish to me, just go with the people that offer the best service/cost0

£1200 for a 38 year old with full ncb, insuring a 6 year old rover?
Sounds like they forgot to give you the ncb to me."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
Sounds like they forget to give a lot more than a NCB! Sounds like bull.... to me!0

just go with a different insurer

If your OH has 6 years on NCB - and then tried insure a SECOND CAR - Then they do not take into account the NCB's earned and you basically "start from scratch"
My dad has 10 years + NCB protected - I brought a new car, we was going to keep my old car as a back up but dad wanted to insure it. He was quoted £350 a year for a 1.2 p reg punto lol0 -
I think you were just unlucky to pick that particular company I pay round £250 with my Max NCB I have done comparisons and have got £900 quotes, you would think that most of these companies would be the same, they can all look on the data base. As above have stated, it might be they did not include the NCB.Look after the Pennies and the Pounds will take care of themselves. :beer:0

I only use the comparison sites as a source of humour, the search results are always about £2-300 more expensive that what I can get from other sources.0

I wish that were true for me.I only use the comparison sites as a source of humour, the search results are always about £2-300 more expensive that what I can get from other sources.
An insurer that will pay me to insure with them ... where do I sign?

Well if it is true, it means I was always right to use bogus names and the addresses of my neighbours when I get online quotes. I only finally enter my correct details and registration number when I have found the cheapest quote and decided that is the one for me.0
