Trying to get away from O2
ok here is the story, i have been with O2 for 5 years and i am about 3 months away from the end of a 18 month contract but my mobile havs finally given up the ghost and i don't want that phone repaired again as by the time i get it back again my contract will probably be at an end. so i would like to either leave O2 or find a way to get an upgrade early.
i have phoned them to find out how much it would cost to buy myself out of my contract and was told it would, due to the removal of my 'loyality' discount, cost £140 (£35 x 3 + this month bill which will be ammended to show the removal of the discount). now i would prefer not to have to pay that much if anything at all.
i have asked about reducing my tarrif and they said they wouldn't do it. and i asked about an early upgrade and they said no too. so as MSE'ers i know that people here could help me reduce the cost of my tarrif, get me off the contract, help me haggle to get the early upgrade or anything at all that might help in any way what so ever.
any questions feel free to ask and any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks.

I assume you wish to keep your number ?
buy a cheap 02payg handset and use it with you O2 contract SIM in it for the next 3 months until your contract is up. this way you get the benefit of the air time you are paying O2 for and can take out a new contract with whichever network you choose later and port your number over. this will be a lot cheaper than £1400
