Says it all. Crap CV or Crap Candidate
I was asking for advice not insults!! I sincerely hope that you find yourself out of work long term and sending off CV' s letters etc with no reply! If you conduct yourself in RL as you do on here then you will be unemployed for a long time! I was always thought that if you have nothing nice to say then don't say it!
To the ones who gave less insulting advice - thank you. The CV will stay as it is!

Susie,
No offence here, certainly the "crap" comment could have been worded better, but, he does he need help with applications and his CV if thats his success rate.

Certainly 11 months and 100 jobs equates to about 2 a week applications, I would think this needs to be more too.
Instead of lying on the CV, can I suggest he gets help with his CV.
Even post it here and let people pick it over (anon of course).

Well stated.
The sooner this forum employs moderators the better. There are really some obnoxious people on here.
I would suggest if anyone has nothing to state in helping anyone who asks for it - don't post - you are making complete clowns of yourself!
You know who you all are - it gets quite boring really and you will find that the ones who usually spout off dross on these forums will likely be insignificant people who have no say in their own homes or workplace but feel dominant when invisible. Sad really!0 -
Some of the comments made to the OP could have been put better, but the essence of what they said was correct.
to be that long out of work means something is wrong with the OPs husband, the CV or hunting technique! The sooner this forum employs moderators the better. There are really some obnoxious people on here.
You could argue that posting on help on how to lie on your CV needs moderating too!

If he has done any studying and/or voluntary work since he has been unemployed, it would be good to point out that his time has been used usefully doing these things and acquiring transferable skills.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

OP - maybe your OH might consider a functional CV. This accentuates skills over chronology and is equally acceptable these days.0 -
I have to agree - if he's got that low a success rate then he needs help with his CV! Recession or not.
A lot of agencies will offer help with CVs but even getting a few books from the library on CV writing would help...
As for moderators... there are legal reasons for why the boards aren't moderated - feel free to search for the many times it's been explained by Martin himselfDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

I attended an employment agency seminar earlier this week. They quoted the following "typical" ratios in the current market-30 applications:1 interviewso your OH's situation seems about right.
7 interviews:1 job offer
OP - maybe your OH might consider a functional CV. This accentuates skills over chronology and is equally acceptable these days.
The op stated that over 100 applications had been made to get the single interview.
So how does 100+applications : 1 Interview roughly equal your 30applications : 1 interview info from the seminar you attended??
