Wedding reception venue recommendations

We had our reception at the Ramada at Shaws Bridge, Belfast. They were pretty hard to fault. Food was great, very good attention to detail and the staff were excellent. There was a residents bar which was available until the last person fell over too! They do charge for the room hire and the rate for corkage was excessive but overall we were very impressed!Timmay!0

Hi everyone,
My partner and I have just recently got engaged. We are considering where might be a good spot for a wedding reception. We will be married in a church in the south east of the city, so somewhere not a million miles is ideal, although not essential.
So more than anything I am looking for people's experience. Where have you been in the greater belfast area which you thought was a particularly well held reception? The culloden is an obvious thought however we are not going to want to wait for a date 3 years in the future, it will be more in the 8 month timescale. We have also heard suggested the Crawfordsburn Inn.
So please give me any thoughts as I would love to hear.
Thanks

hi i just got engaged and had much fun trying to get a reception date. we were 6 months in advance. we just booked park avenue.
venue depends on ur budget relaly. i wanted crawfordsburn in but it was booked already. we looked at beechlawn, big no no. we were ready to wlk out b4 we had even seen the rooms. very disorganised.
if you go to yell.com and type in reception venues and belfast u can get lots of ideas and get lots of brochures sent out for ur perusal.love you lots like jelly tots0 -
How about trying for an unusual day for a wedding, like a Monday. We got married a couple of years ago on a Monday and had no problem getting our reception sorted out 7 months before getting married!tying hard to cut down grocery shop bill...0

went to a do at the ramada, i thought it was v nice. also malone lodge (the one by barnett desmene, i always get it confused with the hotel on eglantine ave) is supposed to be really nice0

I went to one recently in the edge & it was fantastic - give them a bell, I do believe it was arranged on a few months notice aswell.0

I was going to suggest malone house too (one at barnetts demesne - think mal lodge is one on eglantine avenue?) It's run by Belfast City Council. We were at a wedding there and it was a beautiful venue. They don't have accommodation but you could pop over the Ramada afterwards. BCC have some other venues too (Belfast Castle and I think the Waterfront?)
Congratulations on getting engaged!Stercus accidit0 -
Congratulations on the engagement! We had our reception at the Crawfordsburn Inn and I have to say the staff there were excellent and the whole day went brilliantly, if you get a good day for your time of year, using the garden outside to sit in also helps the guests relax and enjoy it while you're off having your picture taken (1000 times)Norn Iron Club Member #64

I'm also Intrested in more suggestions. Myself and my partner have been engaged a few months and are just getting round to looking for locations.
I was at a wedding last year in a place called Corrick house in Augher (I think) A big Georgean house and lovely location that only opens for wedding receptions. The only problem is the travel
