hmmmm....I may care about the welfare of chilckens, but I actually care about being able to feed my children more. Some people literally can NOT afford to pay three times the price for an organic free range chicken...I am one of them. Feeding a family of 8 for £70 a week is not easy .... and anything that helps with that is a blessing at the moment....bargain chickens included.
Not meaning to offend anyone...just pointing out that sometimes people have hard choices to make.
Couldnt agree more, I have 6 people to feed and unfortunately the price has to be right, whilst would love to be organic, free range etc etc, simply cant afford it!!!!!! Surely this forum is about saving money, not judging people for not buying organic etc :money:
Mummy to 4 beautiful but expensive children ;)
  • I in the past have spent £7 on chicken and to be honest i didnt find it any more enjoyable than a cheap chicken. The nicest chicken i have ever had was from Aldi and a friend of mine who normally shops at Marks and spencer agreed with me!!!!! There are millions of chickens being bred and killed in conditions that are not great but until a larger amout of the population stops buying them then they are still going to be bred and produced in this way. I for one are going to make the most of it, after all we are in a recession!!!!
  • my bit is go to morrisons before the shop closes and get a reduced cooked one for 99p. where i live its normally 15 mins before it close at 8pm or 4pm on sundays.:j
:rotfl: given up on tesco do a lot os boots offers. but weekends are now in orange trackside b. lol
now a race marshal at silverstone.

I am not part of the Chicken Police, but when I started to buy the Freedom Food (or whatever the nice ones are) chickens, I seem to use less than half what I did in the past. One breast for a stir fry for 3, etc. The meat goes much, much further.

Possibly due to the lack of water injections etc?

    Just something I noticed...

These type of comments are constructive and are within the forum etiquette which some of the high and mighty brigade always seem 2 forget about when they start lecturing folk about their ways. Good point made Kylie!

My basket at Sainsburys is about as varied as they come re. brands. Meat is always Freedom Foods etc, tinned tomatoes & ketchup: basics. Cheap toilet paper, brand washing liquid. I must look like a crazy...

Why is it that everytime we see a bargain Chicken thread the "chicken police" all come out and lecture us on how we should spend our money ?

Why do they never complain about all the other "bargains" where goods are sold from countries which exploit and mistreat their work force?

Because it's a thread about Chickens, not a thread about mistreatment of overseas workforces? :p

Slang blasphemy and homophobic phraseology are of course *well* within forum etiquette.
