Installed first DVD writer but blanks read as CDs

It was indeed that simple, cheers guys. Have successfully witten 2 discs and freed up 8gb of space on my hard drive in the process. All of those were video files and Nero seemed to handle them fine, just dragged and dropped into the Nero window, taking 15 or 16 mins to burn at 4x which seems perfectly satisfactory.

Computers are annoying, but it's just so much worse when the problem is user-error in the first place. I'm not usually that blonde and was sure it must be some driver issue. Thanks all for your time, I'll check that website out now ATLATA, cheers.
