  • I had applied to ISIS solar for the free panels. They came back to me and requested further proof that my roof pointed due south. I did this and got the response back that as I was in Scotland the feed in tarriff did not apply.
I told them that this was not true, and then got the response back that they had made a mistake and the reason that they could not install in Scotland was that you require planning permission. again this is not factual.
If ISIS do not install in Scotland then just say so, dont give out information that is a load of rubbish.
  • Saffysue after reading latest posts I'm presuming its A Shade greener whose doinig yours? If so how long was it from having a survey to having an install? I got accepted last week by ASG and am having a survey Friday 15th October.:T

Just out of interest - I never got a response from Isis or Homesun to my request to see their contract and also when I rang Isis and asked if they could put me in touch with satisfied customers or give me some photos of their installs they put me on hold and eventually line went dead. I tried again but got the same response, so I gave up ont hem!!!!!

Just out of interest has anyone had an install from Isis or Homesun or know anyone who has?
  • Yes it was ASG. We had a delay after the survey due to not being registered with the land registry. After this was sorted we waited 3-4 weeks.

Thanks for that. Do you think the general waiting time will be more than 3-4 weeks then, what do you think? Just out of interest - why is the land registry involved???
  • I wouldn't like to speculate on what the waiting time is now, I think they are increasing the number of fitting teams.

They need the plans from the L.R. tp mark out the area to be leased. HTH.
  • A LR entry also confirms the owner, so that they know you can sign the 25 year lease.

Welcome to ASG - I have been with them since June, and had no issues at all.

  • This house is for sale - it is advertised on both ASG website and Rightmove

    http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-15687342.html

    Quote from rightmove:
the property benefits from newly installed solar roof panels with projected energy savings of approximately £400 per annum.

(which is complete twosh - even rough maths show you'd have to save 4000 units a year to save £400, which isn't going to happen)

And it was the only mention of the solar on the rightmove advert. Nothing about you don't own them, or tied into 25 years.

I know there is no advantage for rightmove (they just display what the EA emails them), but the EA should know better. I'd be mighty p***** off if I paid for a survey without knowing that ASG own the panels, and not the future homeowner.

On the plus side, looks quite a neat install.

Very interesting - I wonder if the property has had anything added to the value given the argument ages ago that Rightmove were adding 6% to the value of a house.

Notwithstanding the standard disclaimer on the Estate Agents brochure, IMO they would have a case to answer under the Property Misdescriptions Act.

Firstly they must mention the fact that the owners have rented out their roof for 25 years under a legally binding agreement that applies to the new owners. - which would detract from the value of the property for a great many.

Secondly, they simply cannot make claims of £400 savings without some form of checking the accuracy of that statement. - It is doubtful IMO that many people would save £100.

Actually I suspect that many owners have no idea just how little savings they do make from these panels.

From memory Mcfi5dhc who has had a solar PV system for a couple of years posted that he uses around 500kWh a year from his panels in the house(with a wife and children at home all day) so about a £50 saving.
  • SIS solar – Congratulations. You are eligible for the ISIS free solar power offer.

    What happens next?

We will send you our contract. Once it has been signed and
returned we can arrange a survey.

We need a signed contract to arrange a survey. Please use the
prepaid envelope to return it to us as soon as possible.

What do you experts think about it? Is it OK?;)
