  • I've applied but not heard anything back yet.

If I don't qualify for this free setup I'll be getting some quotes for my own PV installation as having looked at this feed in tariff thing its as good an investment as any - Probably better than my pension...
  • One of my neighbours applied and has been approved. Installation in May.

Thats good to hear. Im well gutted that I havent qualified

On another forum, people said I should have no problem?

Could they have made an error by saying my house is north facing? (Im really bad at geography lol)-How would they determine so? To me, my house is both North and South facing

Below is a screenshot of my street, with my house pin pointed:

Looking at the photo I suspect it is because your roof is not big enough.

The system they fit is 3.3kW which is a large amount of panels.

Fair enough. I thought they could at least put up how many solar panels they think they could put on lol. I do appreciate the size of the things means less can be put on, but I thought they could put as much on as possible

    Ill ring them up tomorrow

Read post #61. They initially turned down that request because of the size of roof.

I suspect they have a standard installation(3.3kWh) and are probably not short of applicants.

Ive had an email back from the company(from Sarah)
Thank you for your enquiry – of course mistakes are made, we have hundreds of enquiries each week – also, it has happened before that the ‘pin’ has not been placed on the correct property or that for some reason the pin slipped and we have ended up looking at entirely the wrong roof. Further, we do stress that a roof does not just have to be south facing. As we’re fitting free panels, we have ‘standardised’ our systems – if we customise every fit it would be too expensive for us and we simply couldn’t do it. Accordingly there are certain roofs that wouldn’t be suitable as they would not suit our standard portrait and landscape layouts. Every roof is suitable for solar PV as long as it isn’t shaded, but solar PV would NOT operate at its optimum on EVERY roof.

Why don’t you apply again and I will have your roof reviewed by our Technical Director and ask him to revert to you personally with his decision? Make a note in your message that it is in relation to this enquiry – as you have not provided your name or address.

    Kind regards

    Sarah Dyson

    See above

Well that's my application rejected. I'd need a non-standard install with a combination of landscape and portrait panels.

I emailed 3 other local companies a few days ago enquiring about a system but have had zero response. :embarasse
