also the gov is try a out. a pay as you save scheme
If you had solar installed and it saved you £1000 per year you would pay back £800 till you own the solar system..

You save a bit now and in 8-10 years time you save a lot.

BFG I beleive your question is being ignored, because it has been answered in the form of a 5 page discussion.

The gist of it is that it's not a scam, "A Shade Greener" are using a loophole in their rules to generate an income, the benefit being that the consumer gets free electricity during daylight hours. If you had read the previous 5 pages as I just have, you'd see this

Nothig is ever easy, I am no expert (far from it), and I know there is a solar system which advertise that it generates water for your bath etc so this system must store the energy from the solar panels!
    !

Solar Hot water 'stores' the 'energy'(i.e. the warm water) in a hot water tank.

In money saving terms solar Hot Water is a joke! It produces next to nothing in winter - a few pence per day; and bear in mind it needs an electric pump and electronics.

The government independantly tested 8 systems in Souther Britain(where it is warmer) and got on average 1,000kWh per year. So if you have Gas or oil - £30 to £40 a year!

So you pay £thousands to save £tens,

If you want to use the sun to heat your water, you can make your own solar panel using an old radiator. A guy in Wivenhoe did this, and the total cost was just £40. He did however, use a coolant-filled closed-loop system to heat the water in his tank via thermal transfer (involves putting a coil of copper pipe into your immersion heater tank).

A friend of mine has a proffessionally fitted panel on his home in Stanway, and it paid for itself in 7 years. My uncle also has one, and never has to use the boiler to heat his water, even in the middle of winter.

Just remember though, 'officially' you can't use such a system to heat the water for your central heating (but you can always find 'ways' around this).

So, basically this service is pay as you save as in you are basically renting it at the amount you save money?
Seems interesting, but seems weird that ashadegreener give away this for free. Having a look at npower's site now(we are with them)

The problem with this is that it wont be evacuated tube heater and thus in winter it would be useless. While with a evacuated tube type there's a vacuum around the collecting area thus you don't cooling caused by wind and ambient temp. So all you collect is Infra red radiation.
