of course there's always the command line FTP which comes with Windows and DOS.

Of course - you might be able to it with windows explorer - or internet explorer.

You can log in to a particular FTP server by putting the username and password and address into the address bar, as though it were an URL. Use the following format:

[url]ftp://username:password@server:portnumber[/url]

Server can be host name or ip address. Port number defaults to 21 if you miss it out. Once logged in, you can create and delete folders, and upload and download files and folders simply by dragging and dropping between explorer windows, in the same way that you'd move files between hard disk directories.

Unfortunately, there's no debugging information - so if it doesn't work, you won't be able to figure out why. Last time I checked, windows explorer could only do active mode transfers - it can't do passive mode. You also can't append files, set restart offsets or transfer a file between two remote servers - you'll probably need something like FlashFXP to do that.

Tried connecting with Filezilla and am confused. Why does Nortons firewall signal that I have been attacked by Sockets De Trois?According to Nortons there were 103 attempts in the 10 minutes I was using Filezilla. (This also happened with WS-FTP but does not with Cuteftp.)
