I applied for the upgrade as having been with Natwest for 2 and half years I felt it was about time I got something for loyalty.
You do realise there's a charge of £12.95 a month for the Advantage Gold account, don't you ? That's over £150 a year - not what I'd call getting 'something for loyalty'.0 -

I have never known anyone to be defaulted with PROVIDENT, guess theres a first for everything.
Would vanquis or capital one be my best options then? I have added notices of correction on my credit reports to explain the situations.
No, your best option would be to plough every penny you can into clearing your defaults, and don't spend a penny on interest or account fees until you've done just thatCashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Vanquis Bank is the sister company of Provident Personal Credit, both owned by Provident Financial Plc. Vanquis might decline your credit card application because of your Provident default, although I'm not 100% sure.0 -
Ok thank you everybody for your advice. I have got back in contact with VANQUIS to reconsider there previous decision of not letting me have a card. I have asked them to RE-CONSIDER on the basis that they do a MANUAL CHECK of my credit reports rather then a computerised one, that way they can see how old the defualts are and my NOTICES OF CORRECTION.
As for the gold account, I am applying for it as the car breakdown service and mobild phone insurance will come in handy.
Any advice anybody has get in touch.Clearing debts one step at a time.0 -

Surely you would be better off buying them separately. If you go to some of the best buys elsewhere on here you would probably save 100 pounds per year compared to the cost of the account.

You where able to get cashback on aa membership therough quico making it £7 for the year.
Advantage is combined insurance and natwest will not lend or make any decision to lend you any money on basis that you pay them the premium for it.0 -
Advantage Blue from Natwest providers free mobile phone insurance £0 account fee.
As for Breakdown cover, you'll get it cheaper if you call your existing insurance company and / or search the price comparison websites. Don't try to justify it - it's money you would be better off spending on your debts and that's thatCashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Oh. Sorry! I'll get my coat
Do they ever offer it free? My OH applied for a Current Plus account from Natwest six months ago and was offered advantage blue for free. Maybe they give it away for customers that intend to have a large turnover through the account or something...?Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

I ahve my car recovery with Autoaid for £37.
This covers two married people and cover 3 vehicles with platinum level cover.
I've been with Nat West over 20 years and every now and again I investigate these benefits. I have NEVER found them to be worthwhile.
Could be for some people I guess, but for most people they would be able to get it cheaper with shopping around.0
