sky + ( freezes on playback)

does anyone else have this problem?? my daughter says 'all' her friends have sky + abd 'none' of them have this problem.......

basically what happens is that when i come to watch something that i have recorded,, it goes ok for a bit then it suddenly freezes and then the sky + box goes off... i have to wait for at least 5-6 mins then i switch the box on again and the recording has gone back to the beginning and i have to FF it to get to where it stopped in the first place..

the other day i recorded ( sky +) corrie and started watching it while it as 'taping' and it froze again and by the time i could get it back on again i had missed the rest of corrie..

i have phoned sky on a number of occasions and we have done the housekeeping thing but it continues to do it....

any ideas?? or is my box on its way out, nearly coming up to my 12 month contract.......... it has been doing it for a couple of months now, not all the time but very very often

  • Mine has periods of doing this too. Most of the time it's fine, but then it has an episode or two and is fine for a while. No idea why. Oh and it's 3 and a bit years old and has been doing this for over a year, still works fine the rest of the time though.

    I find mine plays up when low on available recordable space, 10% or less.
    Hoping this year is better than the last. :)

    It's the power supply/Hard Drive on your box which is on the way out.You can get it repaired tho.Eventually the box wont turn on.
    I'll bet it's a Thompson box.
  • Mine does this aswell and it's only about 6 months old. We've had Sky+ before and that did the same.

    Don't Sky charge to come out and look at them? I've never bothered ringing up about it because I'd have to do it on my mobile = £££££. :rolleyes:

    May just email them see what they say.

    If it's under a year old then the service call should be free as should the replacement box,but if you're going to buy one off Flea Bay,make sure it's not a Thompson box as the PSP faults were common on these.
