I'm going to try reducing the tomato sauce first (in a pan rather than quantity) and see if that does the trick. If not then i'll try a different cheese. Will be having another go on Wednesday probably, will post results.

If it is cheaper I'd love to know where you buy it from? I'm on a strict budget and I get the ball mozerella in the liquid as this is the cheapest at Sainsburys. I'm sure the grated stuff was over £1.00. The ball is 63p. However this does 1 large pizza for 2 people. Maybe the grated is enough for 4?

I buy either at tesco (98p for 250g) or at lidl (79p for 200g). A 250g bag would do about 6 pizza bases (my bases are probably 8-10in). Probably a bit more if it's finely scattered.

The grated keeps longer too and doesn't all need used up once it's opened.

I dont know if this is an option, but have you tried spreading the base with philladelphia (or the ownbrand version)..instead of tomato base?
I had this in Germany first..and havent used a tomato base since...you can get away with less toppings too as there is so much flavour -especially if you use garlic n herb...hope it helps :-).jill

Rather belatedley, here are my pizza results using block mozarella cheese rather than ball mozarella - definately less "wet"

The first one wouldn't come off the peel and so got a bit mis-shapen. The second one was more successfull but could have done with another minute or two. The second one is on my terracotta floor tile version of a pizza stone.

As you can see I haven't quite got the hang of getting a perfect pizza shape yet :rotfl:

Also managed to coat most of my hob in a fine layer of polenta

Edit: sorry not sure how to resize images properly

I use cheapie pizza trays from Sainsburys 99p each, they wash up really well.

I precook the bases for about 5 mins then add a couple of spoons of passatta, then what ever toppings I'm going to use, top with a sprinkle of grated mozzerella (79p from lidl) and a sprinkle of cheddar....perfect everytime!

I've not seen these. Do you get them at bigger Sainsburys only? What do they look like?

BTW although they might not look it, both pizzas were thin and crispy :)

Hi I have made a HM pizza for dinner, but the base has gone soggy, since putting all the ingredients on it.

Is there anything I can do to make it go crispy?

It is currently on two baking trays, not the kind with holes in the bottom unfortunately.

This is probably too late now - but would it slide onto a cooling rack over a tray? Put foil on the toppings if they are done

I have found with HM pizzas that the less toppings the better the bottom :)

I usually love my pizzas piled high but just find it doesn't work with HM.

And cook it as hot as your oven will allow for less tiem rather than at the usual 200/220c :)
