Linking Humax PVR 9300T via the USB socket?

Does anyone know if it's possible to connect the Hummy via the rear USB port to a hard disk recorder or laptop? I have some recordings on there that I want to archive to a Mac or DVD.
The port exists, but the handbook says that 'connection to USB or HDD is currently not supported'-so I'm assuming that it just needs the relevant software update?
I think Leopard had commented on another thread (which I can't locate just now) that he had adapted his Foxsat HDR to connect an additional drive by USB. Since this is basically the same box but with Freesat rather than Freeview tuners, I am wondering if this is possible on the 9300T?

I spoke to Humax today asking about this, (I have a Direct Line to their Tech Dep...) the USB is not active, and they have no plans to make it so. Seems stupid to me to put the port on for no reason, but if you check the Humax website, they have altered the specs and taken off any reference to USB.

Just got a new 9300T a few days ago. Upgraded for the 9150T for a bigger harddrive and HDMI. It has the last firmware update on it from December 2008. This is missing the USB connector so it looks like they've decided to take it out all together now. Shame as its one of the only disadvantages of buying the humax.0 -
Cheers Lube. Seems like a pretty short-sighted decision by Humax. Apart from that, you will like the 9300T. There is a new software update released a few weeks back which should be OTA in the next few weeks. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Following on from this, we have a 9200T (Grade A) which apparently does have operational USB ('tho not tried yet ) / However the manual only talks about uploading from PC to box not vice-versa. Is it possible to archive to PC?
So far so good with this machine - would definitely recommend and good value at under 90 quid from humax website with 1 yr on site warranty0 -
The upload on the Hummy (for software updating via PC) is done via the serial port on mine, not USB. How do you know the USB works if you haven't tried it? Mine (9300T) has a USB port fitted, but the manual says it is not currently supported. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

I base this on statement in the manual and in other forums that USB does work on 9200 but not acivated in 9300, altho as i say i havent tried it yet.

Thanks for that, it's beyond me why they deactivated the USB on the 9300.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
