i'd go for a bungalow....with a walk in shower room! i've always wanted a walk in shower room (and a btha, not corner though)

when it comes to reselling it will be the perfect property for pensioners / retirees with cash too, bungalows sell like hot cakes. my parents just sold theirs, they didn't even have to put it on the market with an EA - as soon as word got round the village they wanted to sell they had a load of private offers for it.

I would (loction aside, as that would be my first priority) look at the quality of the work in relation to the asking price- if it was going cheap I wouldn't be bothered, if I was paying top dollar for a house ready to live in I'd want a corner bath, wet room, everything! I do like them old fashioned free-standing baths, and B&Q have whilpool baths £249 half price!

I don't think I'd care too much how many floors there were, but if there's some nice views I'd put a loft/dormer on it. That's my view as a young person with the use of my legs, if you were targeting retired couples, maybe you could leave it off.

I'm not convinced lofts make you any money after you've paid everything, unless you can get the job done without too much variation on £10,000.

Yes but you need to ask MSE users who are replying what cateogory they're in. It's no good taking advice from perhaps a young single, if you're marketing at 30something families, or old people, and the same if you want to sell to young families you can't market towards old biddies.

I would decide on a target and take advice from others in that target audience!

How does 4 bedrooms (2 with en-suite, at least 1 with walk in wardrobe), 2 reception rooms (both with fire places), study, kitchen, dining room, utility room (which has its own door and is a seperate room), 2 shower rooms, bathroom, cloak room, double hotpress and conservatory sound? All rooms are very spacious imho! Room to extend, to the left, right, front and rear. Also a 4 car garage.

I was trying to get a range of views as at the moment the age range of home owners within 3/4 of a mile radius is from early 20s to early 90s. I was trying to think that when we get older that we would still have a bedroom and bathroom downstairs and that everyting is on a level ground.

My problem is I just want to get our new home perfect for us or if we have to sell it on! :o

Jo4, needs change as you get older. I am older now and we sold a large house with large garden, village, stables etc There is no way we would want to be running that size of house now. We moved to a gorgeous, safe area and are now part of a lovely community of young couples to saga age. No children but they aren`t banned. We have security and parkland, leasehold as you might have guessed and we can go on holiday leaving car and property in safety.

The property a couple of posts above sounds great for a family. Make an honest list but put location at the top if you want to eventually profit from buying

We have 3 bedrooms, study, bathroom, cloakroom, 2 en suites, dressing room, large kitchen/dining. It is a town house with views to die for. We know that we love this place but if needs must then we will always be able to sell at a premium

Do you have any nice views of the countryside at present? For me a room with a large window to see as much of the view would be a factor. Personally, I think corner baths are a waste of space. Preferred colour for bathroom would be white.

If you are going to keep a bedroom & bathroom on the ground floor will be ensuite or seperate? I understand what you are saying about having everything on one level for when you are older, but what are you going to use that bedroom for in the meantime? A potential buyer may see it as study/sitting room/dining room etc but not if its got a bathroom off it. Can you make the alterations so that in years to come you can cut a door way thru between the bedroom & bathroom with the minimum of hassle?

Yes we have stunning views at the moment of the countryside and there is lots of wildlife, literally outside the door and sometimes even in the garden, like birds, rabbits, squirrels, hedgehogs, pheasant, deer ...

One bedroom downstairs has an ensuite the other doesn't. Their wil be a bathroom and shower room downstairs.

It will be used as a bedroom. Their is a spacious study, 2 sitting rooms (3 if you count the conservatory) and a very spacious dinning room

I don't think anyone would want to considering there will be a bathroom and shower room downstairs and a shower room and en-suite upstairs?!?
