Including book vouchers, bookmarks, a mug, sweets, slippers, a book, hot choc sachets etc etc. Then she can choose her own books and still have something nice to open/use on the day. I would have loved something like that when I was younger

Hmmm good idea, may modify it slightly for her age (4) but she'd love choosing her own books xTigz, how about some finger puppets to go with her favourite stories, then she could act them out for you.
This sort of thing?

I always got a book token from a great aunt and uncle and I loved going to the bookshop and choosing my books - it was almost a double present. Be prepared for it to take ages before a choice is made though... I have got MIL/FIL sorted, DH (well, kinda, will get him a couple of things to open on the day), my whole family (but have to post it all over to Canada!) so just need nephew, DS and DD, and my couple of god-children and not spending loads on them.
DS and DD both have asked for dummies. (I blame Chloe! You hear me Sammy!) I have said No WAY!Empty pockets never held anyone back, only empty heads and empty hearts can do that -Peale0 -

Audiobooks! The world's best invention, even for four year olds. Put em on before she goes to bed, she'll go to sleep thinking of the pictures she made in her head.
And I loved the Faraway Tree, isn't it the one with the guy who helped people. He had a hat and all the kiddies round for tea** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **
