  • Hi, only just got back onto mse and although I don't spend an awful lot, I don't have any money to spare, so I'm going to stop buying drinks at uni and take an empty bottle as we have free water, not allowed to buy chocolate (going to start baking some homemade goodies every weekend instead), no buying un-needed makeup, I should have enough to last me (except eyeliner), and a hard one, but no buying alcoholic drinks when I'm out (except a glass of wine if the oh insists on paying :P) There's probably more but that should keep me going!

    Good luck everyone else!

Hi Sarah to my pledges I need to add Not to buy books
Got one square cube bag full of books to go through and seriously resisted this past week end from buying the latest one from one author i love (£20 ! unbelievable the prices, will wait til it gets into paperback in 6 months or so).
Doing well on the perfume front, my mum donated one of hers (Dior very nice) as she'll never use it
Very bad on the exercise front, won't say anymore, they'll be only excuses :)

    Hello everyone!

Just a quick pop in to see how you're all doing :)

So far I've resisted on buying the random crap, doing well with it on ebay especially, I'll watch something for a few days then delete it from my list since i know I don't NEED it :D

Am now onto day 19 of me taking my own lunch to work, though I did start doing that on the 5th Nov :p

The one I'm REALLY struggling with is the exercise. The weather here is so carp right now that going out for a walk just frightens me :o so it's currently just the step I'm doing while watching some tv/listening to the radioand it's getting very repetitive. Any tips or ideas on how to vary my exercising without spending a fortune?

Fitness DVDs from the library? Or charity shop?

Exercise does not come naturally to me, so I know how easy it is to get bored!!

    Hiya,
    Could I join please? I know I'm a bit late.... :o

    I'd like to pledge to:

    1. Not buying lunches!
    2. Walk the kids to school once a week (off work at the moment but to commit to anymore when I return would be difficult)!
    3. Buy NO itunes!

I won't trouble you too much but will drop in if there is a risk of a wobble or if I have a confession to make...!

  • Doing fairly well so far. No food on the way to work or magazines etc. One thing I did buy was a new foundation. I knew I wouldn't last the whole challenge with out buying one and managed to get a 'Roc' one for 1.99 at Home Bargains!! Nearly slipped up at Boots this morning whilst waiting for my prescription but managed to resist - ooh but so many lovely things!!!

Think I might have to add 'not using my credit card' to my lsit of challenges!

    Well done everyone!

I'm starting to struggle slightly with the CC as I only have £3.02 to last me until Monday (payday!) and I literally have NO more. Unfortunately I'm off to stay with a friend over the weekend so hope she doesn't want to do much that involves spending money!!!

Oh and I'm really tempted to treat myself to cheer myself up... did something a bit naughty at work so am facing a discplinary  How can I cheer myself up and try to stop stressing for free? :o

toolittletime - I too am terrible with makeup!! I never go out without it and I'm really worried about lasting these 100days but I bought 2 foundations last week as it was on offer!! Eeek!

Well today went well though, only spent money on a train ticket, although I got really thirsty in my lecture and was tempted to pop out and buy a drink!!

psychopathbabble - please don't be tempted by the cc!! I'm not very good at advice, but when I'm a bit down I always snuggle up in bed and watch a nice film or read a favourite book if that helps :)
