Hi Dena, I can ask my boss, i do take postal orders so i don't know why she can't send them.

I agree your 'buyer' is being a pain....BUT am I the only one here who won't send postal orders any more for small items because of the PO fees? What with that and the postage (both to send the POs to the seller and of course the postage you pay for the item to be sent) it makes small purchases with Postal Orders a no-no.
Am I being naive to ask why some sellers won't take personal cheques? Once they're cleared you're fine surely - especially if you allow a full week for any 'late returns' from the Bank.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Is there any way Ebay can regulate newbies? We had someone bid on an item about a week ago, won the item, paid and THEN started asking questions and saying if it didn't have certain bits that a new one had, then she'd be returning the item and demanding a refund.
My wifes reply was along the lines of.... You're new, so I'll explain this to you, you look at the description, bid if you want the item as described. You cannot start asking questions once you've won the item. (The item was described exactly in the listing btw)

Hi,
The auction ended at £14.99 inc p&p so it wasn't a small amount.
As for personal cheques - i've seen 1 of the ways it can happen, the person issues the cheque, gets the item, then phones the bank says there cheque book was stolen and they recoup the money out of the account it was paid into.
The money can be taken out quite a few months after the transaction took place.
There is other ways, the company i work for has had it done to them a few times, that is why we don't accept personal cheques anymore.Accept that some days you're the pigeon and some days you're the statue.0 -
Bank transfer would solve all your headaches if you could persuade buyer to pay this way.My TV is broken!

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -

Clearing for funds is not the same as clearing for fraud. I have had a cheque recalled form my account after 6 weeks and sveral others around the 10 day mark. It is very rare but it does happen and if the OP does not want to take cheques then she really doesn't have to.

What is it with customers lately? I've had to file 3 Unpaid Items within the last week (one buyer was NARU), and I've just sent a reminder invoice for another one which I fear will also remain unpaid. Why me?0

i wouldnt be so bothered if she had said no i cant afford it at the moment or told me the bloody truth i hate people that lie

There are a few reasons why some people don't take cheques. Mine is because of the time and cost involved in getting to the bank (only open weekdays BTW). You also need to be able to easily check whether it has been cashed too. Postal orders are much easier as you can cash them at the post office immediately.
I have got better things to do than to try and get to the bank before it closes to cash a cheque.0
