Dodgy handset on 3, what can I do?

Good evening all,

I really need some advice from you all. I have an INQ1 phone on the hellish network that is three, the contract itself was started in May of this year. So far I have had the handset itself refusing to charge, randomly rebooting and not having incoming calls connect despite the caller getting a ringing tone constantly add into this voicemail messages not saving when recorded by an incoming caller it’s easy to say I have lost complete confidence in the handset.
Upon going into a three store today to try and have a face to face conversation with one of their staff all I was told was “Oh yeah there are tons of problems with that handset I’m on O2 myself.”
Now I’m faced with a problem do I try to contact Three customer services and explain the problem knowing all too well that they will probably say there is nothing they can do with regards to handset replacement or do I turn round and try and call there bluff and get either early upgrade quote or do I swallow it all and try and get a price to buy out of my contract?
I really am at my wits end and haven’t got a clue what to do. Surprisingly I have had no real issues with service and the likes but I can’t be doing with a handset that is clearly faulty.

Any help would be much appreciated

Stu

  • The phone and service contract are seperate so phone issues generally won't affect your contract. If the phone is however been fault they should within 12 month have it repaired, if that fails then replaced if it is a manufacturing problem.
The handset refusing to charge should come under the manufacturer warranty.

As you are having a problem with voicemail, that sounds more like a service issue with 3 more so than a phone problem. And would get in touch with 3, as i don't use 3 i assume like other networks you dial your voicemail box which is hosted by 3, so would be a service issue.

Either way, the shop you brought it from deal with the phone issue and do a replacement/repair.

As to the voice mail it will probably be a call to customer services to have an engineer look at why the voicemail isn't working

There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies
