i have just come to the end of the buy now pay later on my argos card and they have added £100 interested to it plus what they add every month!!!
barclaycard offered me 12 mths interest free on balance transfers so i tried to transfer the balance from my argos card on to my barclaycard it wouldnt let me do it online so i rang barclaycard and said i was having problems and they said argos dont let people do balance transfers from theier argos accounts anymore!!!
im finding it hard to to pay the argos card each month and if i was to transfer the balance i could bring the balance down quicker!
are argos allowed to do this surely there is some law at the end of the day they have still charged me interest so made a profit anyway really mad and worrying about this can anyone help???

Argos are under no obligation to accept card payments or balance transfers to clear their credit accounts.
Not sure what law you think there must be to force them to, or why such a law would be in place.
If your credit rating is good, then consider applying for an MBNA card, as they will allow you to transfer the cash into your current account which you can then pay the Argos account off with.
Be aware that when you signed up for the BNPL, the agreement would have clearly stated that it was an interest bearing account from day one, with the interest waived if the account is cleared within x number of months. By just letting the account lapse over the interest free option period, you will indeed have occurred interest from the day you bought the item. Although not what you would like, it's not Argos being unreasonable.
These agreements are funded due to approx 50% of people not paying off within the interest free period. This allows the retailers to offer the credit to all customers without having to factor this into the product price.0 -

I gave you advice. Read my post again!
Balance transfers are designed to pay off other credit cards. An Argos BNPL agreement is not a credit card, so it's not surprising that Barclaycard will not pay them.0 -
barclaycard will pay them its argos not allowing it you seem very blunt and not very friendly hence why i said i was only asking for some advice?
anyone else got any friendly advice?0 -

I don't end my posts with kisses, but my post was there to help you! Every comment was made to be of help to you, and anybody else choosing to read your thread.
I don't see how "friendliness" changes the validity of any advice?
Argos would let you, your mum, your dog or a stranger pay your account off. Maybe you need to clarify with both them and Barclaycard, why you cannot use a balance transfer?0 -
Ask Barclaycard for a credit card cheque and use that to pay off Argos.0
-
yes i thought of doing that but its a new card so they dont give cheques right away and i dont really want to use the card 4 anythin else0

Ok so use the new card for your day to day shopping such as food and petrol etc and then use the money you have not used to pay off Argos.0

Barclaycard started ramming cheques down my throat about 7 weeks after activating the card, so you won't have to wait too long. Just make sure the card doesn't have a balance before you use them.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

it must be a 0% chq offer as most are treated as cash advance, I use argos card all the time but I have to agree with the above advice. Good advice but straight to the point.0
