OH upgraded to an iphone some months ago with no free offers, but the OH was not spending anything like your monthly outgoings.
Tell them you want the iphone but will happily go to one of the other providers of it now and see what deal they offer you.0 -

There's a very long thead on here discussing the sort of offers O2 are giving out.
When I called a couple of weeks ago as a long time customer, I was only offered £5 a month off the line rental. I asked about the iphone and there are no deals at all - you will only be offered what is on the website, there's no discount applicable unless you're an O2 employee.0 -
My mate was offered on o2
Iphone 3gs 16gb - free
18 month contract - £30 p month
1200 min x network
unlimited iternet
300 or 500 txt messaging
unlimited wifi
which sounded like a good deal to me0 -

Your mate must be one hell of a customer! To get £14.04 off line rental (it's 500 texts btw) and the phone which is £87.11 for free is really really good.0 -

I'd get your friend to double check, as that wouldn't be that price.
If you want to upgrade to an iPhone, you'll be offered a fair deal which is the price on the website.0
