He just clipped the barrier so there was no damage and the wall he hit only looks like if has paint from the front bumper so there was no repair needed by the looks of it.Chippy_Minton wrote: »I did tell you. See #6.
Your also facing a bill for the team that came out to assess and maybe repair the barrier last night.
Did any other emergency services attend? Unlike the police they charge for RTC's.
Only the police attended as no one was hurt.0 -
The Highways Agency will have still sent an ISU to examine the barrier.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

Get the car stored somewhere free (at home) while you get quotes. An independant garage will be able to do repairs more cheaply than the main dealer. Although check the warrenty position if the car is quite new.
Don't worry about the barrier repairs, they Highways Dept are a third party and their claim will be dealt with by insurers as will and injury or damage to the passenger.
Costs relating to the car repair will be down to your son though. He could possibly do a lot of them himself though, especially if it is all cosmetic. When my sister crunched her tailgate my dad removed the tailgate, and bought a replacement from the local scrap yard. It was the same colour so didn't need spraying. Cost less that the excess on the policy.
You can do this with all body panels, headlights etc. If you can't get the same colour he can get them resprayed later when he can afford it and drive a two tone car in the meantime.
This will be a valuable lesson for him. No point buying a car you can't afford to insure. He would have been better off buying a cheaper car if he couldn't afford FC insurance on this one.
I'd love to know what it is though at that amount!0 -
Out of interest was type and age of vehicle was it?
as for TP costing 3.5k and fully comp 5k I am actually amazed. Everyone I know now finds that fully comp is normally in the same ground as TP as the real costs of accidents these days are in TP injury and hire claims rather than fixing the car.0
