Carphone Warehouse - 02

A direct debit came out of account recently it is called:

"CPW LTD - REF 02"

It was for around £26

My mobile bill is paid direct to 02

My mobile insurance is paid to Carphone Warehouse (under name of Carphone Warehouse)

&

There are 2 direct debits set up under the above name! (only one payment has come out)

Does anyone know what this direct debit could be for!!???

Comments

  • How much is your mobile bill normally?

If it's £26, it seems CPW has taken this amount for your mobile bill.
  • Its not my bill as it is always £35 (iphone contract)

My bill is always paid to direct to 02, ie direct debit states 02 and not CPW!
  • Now my bank tells me its a talk talk direct debit!

    Whats going on!

How long was the o2 contract and if you were coming to an upgrade period, might want to check you have not been "downgraded" to CPW from o2 direct.
  • Nowhere near the upgrade point, prob year and a half to go on it.

As I said my bank tell me that TALK TALK claimed the payment, I'm not a talk talk customer!! (I know that talk talk are part of the carphone warehouse)

    Seems rather dodgy to me.

I'd get on the phone to 02 customer services & ask them what's going on.

Well tell your bank to deal with it under the direct debit guarantee - it might be fraud, someone getting your bank details or it might be a mistake by CPW entering incorrect information into their own system.

Whichever way, if you have no dealings with talk talk / cpw - then you want your money back from them under the direct debit guarantee and cancel the direct debit.
  • Just got on to my bank, no doubt they will come back to me saying its all my fault and I have to sort it out with talk talk myself to reclaim the money....Blah Blah

Yes, talk to your bank, not O2, the rogue DD doesn't seem to have anything to do with them.

There's a similar topic on the TalkTalk forum from somebody who isn't a TalkTalk customer:

And another on this very forum here:

TalkTalk have an authorised company representative on MSE who will be able to help if your bank are useless.
